  • A Kmart shopper saw a live rabbit in store
  • She was concerned and kept an eye out for the owners

An ex-reality television star was stumped over what to do after spotting a live rabbit casually sitting on boxes at her local Kmart store.

Eliza Kennedy, who as a contestant on season three of Love Island Australia, was shopping when she stumbled across the black and white pet.

While the animal didn’t seem bothered, Eliza wondered where the owners were and whipped out her phone to start recording.

‘Guys, I’m in Kmart, and there’s this bunny just sitting here,’ she said in a TikTok video.

‘It’s a real bunny. I think it’s real.. What? Whose rabbit is this?’

Zooming in the camera, she saw the rabbit’s nose start to twitch and she knew it was a live animal not a plush toy.

‘It is real. That is real. Oh my God, someone collect their bunny rabbit from Kmart,’ she continued.

The video has since amassed more than 300,000 views and fellow animal lovers were also worried.

‘Please tell me you saved it and didn’t leave it there,’ one woman wrote, another added: ‘This is so sad, I would take him.’

‘I feel so sorry for it,’ a third added.

A Kmart worker also commented saying they’ve seen live pets in store before.

‘I work at Kmart and I’ve seen dogs, cats, birds, lizards…’ the employee wrote.

However, in a follow-up video Eliza provided an explanation and confirmed the owners weren’t far away in the store.

‘Okay guys, update on the bunny. I know everyone is very invested in this,’ she said.

‘I did a few laps of the section that the bunny was in, looking like an absolute weirdo.

‘But I was just sussing everyone out being like, ‘Is that your bunny? Are you the parent?’

‘Anyway, the parents were there. It was a couple, and they just picked up the bunny, put the bunny on their shoulder and proceeded to stroll through Kmart.

‘I think it’s very bizarre. Like I said, people are f****** weird.’
