Mr Jones and his partner Emma had been in the utility area of their kitchen  when the the armed men ran in and pinned them against the wall with machetes and meat cleavers.

He told The Liverpool Echo: ‘We had no idea they had come in the front door – they used a professional locksmith tool to get in – this was clearly organised crime.

‘They knew what they were doing, they took our phones off us and told us to put our hands on the table before demanding to know where our money and car keys were.’

During the horrifying ordeal, the group of masked men had threatened to stab Mr Jones’ baby and his partner’s daughter who were both sleeping upstairs.

However Mr Jones was able to get hold of a knife from one of the men before running outside and screaming for help.
