A Korean bar has come under fire after serving a group of five people a staggering 86 shots of alcohol during a six-hour drinking session.

Confronting CCTV footage showed the group downing countless shots of soju at the Haru Fashion Soju Lounge in Sydney’s CBD on October 11 last year.

Chris Change, the licensee of the lounge, was given his first formal warning from the Independent Liquor and Gaming Authority.

His Castlereagh Street business will lose its license if issued another two warnings.

Restaurant security footage, obtained by the Daily Telegraph, recorded the boozy night as it unfolded.

One woman was so intoxicated she had to be carried out of the venue by her legs and arms.

She was later discovered unconscious in the early hours of the next morning laying near a pool of vomit.

Another reveller was discovered nearby passed out in his own vomit, and was pulled off the middle of the street to safety by roadworkers.

The group, who were celebrating a birthday, can be seen sculling the popular South Korean spirit, which is traditionally served neat, from shot glasses.

The potent alcohol can range in alcohol content anywhere from 16 to 50%.

One inebriated drinker was filmed staggering backwards and tripping on a chair.

At one point, a bartender was shown serving more soju to the group while a man lay asleep at a table.

The establishment may still face further punishment from the ILGA on top of the strike.

Mr Chang can make a submission explaining why he should not be punished until September 22.

ILGA chairman Philip Crawford said it was lucky no one had died during the incident, and the drastic violation of regulations was incomprehensible.

‘It is almost beyond belief that the venue could serve such a large amount of alcohol to a group of five patrons,’ he said.

‘The fact one of the patrons was passed out on the road highlights the risk of serious injury or death … The authority will consider imposing a range of special conditions on the venue’s liquor licence, as well as winding back the venue’s trading hours,’ he said.

Last year, another Korean bar was fined last year after two were served 16 shots in 40 minutes and were later found left in the street.

Strikes can be awarded for any breach and remain in place for three years.

Licensees with multiple breaches can face suspension or removal from the industry.
