Kristen Stewart reveals she and Dylan Meyer got engaged ‘MONTHS ago’

Kristen Stewart has revealed that she and fiancee Dylan Meyer have already been engaged for several months – despite only confirming their happy news to the world this week.

The 31-year-old actress opened up about her engagement during an appearance on the Today show on Thursday, when she admitted that she actually struggles to remember the exact date that her partner of two years popped the question, noting that is happened ‘months ago’.

‘I’m the worst, I’m like, “When did that happen because I should remember that date!” she told anchors Hoda Kotb and Savannah Guthrie, while discussing her latest starring turn as Princess Diana in the new royal movie Spencer.

But while Stewart and Meyer have been privately celebrating their engagement with family and friends for a while now – having thrown a party for their nearest and dearest a month ago – she joked that the public excitement surrounding their official announcement has made some relatives feel as though they are experiencing the news for the first time all over again.

‘The funny thing is even Dylan’s dad sent us an email congratulating us,’ she said of the reaction to her public confirmation of her engagement. ‘He was like, “Girls, I’m so happy for you!” We were like, “You were at the engagement party a month ago!”‘

Although Stewart did not reveal exactly when Meyer popped the question, she did take a moment to gush over her future wife, saying that she feels ‘so surely happy’ in their relationship.

‘[It has been] perfect,’ she said. ‘I’m so absolutely just… I feel so lucky. And it’s just so nice to know something in this world. I know, I’m so surely happy, I’m so stoked.’

During her appearance on the Today show, the actress also opened up about how she prepared to take on the role of Princess Diana in her latest movie, Spencer, an imagined account of a three-day period at Sandringham during Christmas 1991.

Stewart, who was born and raised in Los Angeles, admitted that she binge-watched Netflix series The Crown to get ready for the role – explaining that she found it helpful to balance her historical research with a more dramatized version of events.

‘I think I watched [The Crown] in three days,’ she revealed. ‘It was nice to have that [while] going through all the memoirs and research and documentaries. They are actually not remotely dry, [but] it was just nice to have a dramatized version of the story too.

‘It was very clickbaity for me, I just could not stop going to the next episode.’

Although Stewart has previously said that mastering Diana’s very particular British accent was ‘exhausting’, when it came to embodying the Princess, the actress said the process was actually very natural to her – largely because she has always been such a ‘huge, enormous admirer’ of her.

The actress explained that she focused on the ’emotional, spiritual’ aspect of the character, which she then tried to ’embody’ in a physical way – pointing specifically to what she described as Diana’s ‘unruly’ energy.

‘She is not difficult to absorb to be honest,’ Stewart said. ‘I wish that there was a key to this magic trick I have. My only answer is that I took her into my physicality in an emotional, spiritual way. I’m such a huge, enormous admirer of her and it’s hard to not be impacted by that energy.

‘I also luckily had a good four or five months to work with a beautiful coach and I trust process. It became really physical and muscular and once I got there, it was really important to focus on her spontaneity and her life.

‘I think every picture I’ve seen of her, every bit of footage I’ve seen of her, every bit of footage I’ve seen of her, she is exuding life and just exploding alive. I couldn’t make everything perfect and precise, I still needed it to live and breathe and feel unruly.

‘I feel like when she walked in a room, it felt like you didn’t know what was going to happen. That could be projection, maybe our memories of her and then knowing what happened.

‘There’s something about looking back, you know, hindsight is 20/20. Every time I look at her… I get a little bit worried.’
