Kyle and Jackie O: Supermarket ‘undercover loss prevention officer’ reveals the most stolen item from supermarkets – and you’ll never believe what it is

A caller in to the Kyle and Jackie O Show has revealed the most stolen item in Australian supermarkets.

The woman, an undercover ‘loss prevention officer’ who works for a major supermarket chain, stunned hosts Kyle Sandilands and Jackie ‘O’ Henderson with the sought after item.

Kyle initially guessed that the most pinched product would be razor blades, given their relatively high value.

Jackie meanwhile predicted tampons would be what thieves most often targeted.

However the caller stunned them both when she revealed the item was actually barbecue chickens.

‘Where are they putting [the chicken] to steal it?’ asked a perplexed Jackie.

‘Two of the the ones that I stopped [put it] down their pants,’ said the undercover officer, who is in charge of stopping in-store thieves.

‘Holy s**t, a whole chicken!’ exclaimed Jackie, before Kyle asked what sort of pants the thieves wore to allow the theft.

‘Trackies. Yeah, big trackies,’ she replied.

The revelation comes after a young Australian woman has been left fuming over the cost of living after visiting her local supermarket and fresh food grocer.

Elly Vickere was annoyed after nipping into Coles and spending $45 on two boxes of tea bags, two loaves of bread, a box of chicken Kievs and two litres of lactose free milk.

The young TikTokker also went into the green grocer and bought a huge stack of fresh vegetables which set her back $26.

‘Half of the amount of money that I spent on those couple of (supermarket) items. They might not be the prettiest or most symmetrical but it is going in your belly anyway.’

Elly used to think going to the farmers market or green grocer would leave her further out of pocket.

‘It is insanely cheap,’ she said.

And people in the comments couldn’t agree more.

‘Personally as a Coles worker, definitely go to farmers markets because I legit stand there looking at the total being like that’s ridiculous,’ one person said.

‘I work at Coles and honestly I’m so embarrassed to work there because they keep increasing the prices of things,’ said another.

One woman said her weekly shop went from $90 to $170 a week at Coles.

Some pointed out Elly’s expensive taste.

‘Those teas are pricey,’ one woman said.

Elly admitted she is a ‘slave’ to the prices because the teas help her get to sleep.

Others said the food from the markets lasts longer.

‘Coles fruit and vegetables rot after three days – the market stuff lasts all week,’ one woman wrote.

Some were excited by her fresh food haul.

‘Bro a watermelon would have been $20 alone at Spudshed,’ one said.

The video quickly went viral with over 45k people interacting with the conversation.
