Kylian Mbappe is awarded a rare 10/10 by L’Equipe after his four-goal haul in France’s 8-0 demolition of Kazakhstan, making PSG forward just the TWELFTH player in history to be given full marks

  • France qualified for the World Cup by winning 8-0 at home to Kazakhstan
  • Kylian Mbappe scored a hat-trick in 32 minutes and Karim Benzema got a brace
  • The prolific PSG striker then added his fourth of the game in the closing stages
  • His goal-mine performance earned him a prestigious 10/10 rating from L’Equipe
  • Only 12 other players have been awarded the honour, including Lionel Messi

Kylian Mbappe has finally achieved perfection in the eyes of L’Equipe after being awarded a 10/10 rating for his four-goal wonder-performance for France against Kazakhstan on Saturday.

The 22-year-old ran riot for Les Bleus and produced a breathtaking performance to score three goals inside the opening 32 minutes of the World Cup qualifier before adding a fourth late on.

The win secured France’s place at the 2022 World Cup as they sit top of the group and earned Mbappe a prestigious honour by the French publication.

Despite the result coming against minnows Kazakhstan, the prolific PSG striker entered an extremely exclusive club after L’Equipe awarded him a 10/10 for his display.

The French outlet are notoriously savage in their ratings, often finding fault where others cannot, and Mbappe has become just the 12th player to have ever received full marks.

The forward joined Robert Lewandowski, Lucas Moura and Carlos Eduardo, as well as fellow PSG team-mates Neymar and Lionel Messi, who has earned the honour twice.

Bayern Munich’s Serge Gnabry was the most recent to make the cut after his four goals for the Bundesliga side in their 7-2 demolition of Tottenham in October 2019 saw L’Equipe hold their hands up in amazement.

On Mbappe’s performance, L’Equipe ran with the headline ‘Kylian Airways’ before adding: ‘Scorer of a quadruple and an assist, Kylian Mbappe offered an exceptional performance during the very large victory of France against Kazakhstan (8-0) at the Parc des Princes.’

The floodgates opened after Mbappe fired France into a sixth-minute lead with a superb first-time shot from a Theo Hernandez assist, with the home side always two gears ahead of the Kazakhs.

Mbappe added the second in the 12th minute with a simple finish into an empty net past a defender after Coman raced down the right, and he completed a first-half hat-trick in the 32nd when he headed home an inch-perfect cross from Coman.

The French never took their foot off the pedal after the break and soon increased their advantage with two quickfire goals from Benzema, who poked in the fourth from a Hernandez assist before Mbappe turned provider.

Rabiot scored his first international goal in the 75th minute as he headed in Griezmann’s corner before the latter netted his 42nd with a penalty, overtaking Michel Platini as his country’s third-highest top scorer.

The brilliant Mbappe put the icing on the cake three minutes before the end with a sublime finish into the bottom-right corner from a fine assist by substitute Moussa Diaby, with the home crowd already in full swing.
