Megyn Kelly sat down with the Kardashian ladies back in April for an interview that aired Wednesday morning on ‘Today,’ just a few days before the premiere of the new season of their E! reality show.
The NBC host was joined by matriarch Kris and her daughters Kourtney, Kim, Khloe and Kendall, but noticeably absent was her youngest child Kylie.
That came as a bit of a surprise, especially since Kylie was photographed at the studio with her sisters on the day the taping took place earlier this year and even posted video of herself on set to Snapchat.
A source with knowledge of the production that day tells DailyMail.com that Kylie was expected to take part in the interview, but then bailed just before the segment.
‘She was supposed to be there, but didn’t show up at the last minute,’ said the source, who noted that Kylie had already been on-set that day filming an interview for E! related to the show.
A rep for Kylie did not respond to a request for comment.

Kendall meanwhile appeared to be even more fiercely protective Kylie than normal during the interview.
At one point, the 21-year-old model snipped at Megyn while pointing out how successful her kid sister has become thanks to her Kylie Cosmetics empire.
‘My little sister has an insane business and anyone who says they don’t want their kid to be like that, and have an insane business at 19, and literally be so successful is insane to me,’ said a notably animated Kendall at one point to Megyn.
The other Kardashian women also seemed to be particularly interested in discussing Kylie’s success during the interview, and the then-teenager’s accomplishments.
‘Women will say the Kardashians are evil because my kid is looking at pictures of them and is being driven towards superficial goals that are unattainable. I have said publicly before, I want to ask you that question. Are you a force for good or for a force for evil?’ asked Kelly at one point during the interview.
‘I think we’ve honestly through our show, we’ve shown so many much more positive things,’ responded Kim, pointing out the fact that for the past two seasons the show has been addressing Caitlyn Jenner’s transition.
She then added that despite this, some people’s response to the program is: ‘Oh they’re superficial, oh, they’re wearing make-up, oh they’re this.’

Kris then chimed in, adding: ‘I think that’s a small percentage. The girls have hundreds of millions of followers. Hundreds of millions. And like Kylie, for example, she employs 5 or 600 people.’
The matriarch could also be seen in a clip that aired just prior telling Kylie that she was creating an empire with her beauty brand.
It is during this exchange that a smiling Kim can be seen leaning over and speaking with her sisters, with Kendall heard saying the word ‘trash’ at one point.
Kendall, who prior to that point seemed somewhat aloof during the interview, then jumped in to point out just how accomplished her kid sister is thanks to her cosmetics empire.

Later, after the interview aired, Megyn also sang Kylie’s praises, revealing that Kylie Cosmetics is on track to be worth a billion dollars in the next few months.
She then added: ‘The dynamic was charming. Obviously love each other a lot. They were, you know, grooming each other. They were complimentary of each other, really complimentary of each other. Joking.
‘The one thing I took away, it’s a lovely family. And I think this whole experience has only brought them closer.’
Kelly was photographed back in April making her way into a Los Angeles studio with her glam squad for the interview, outfitted in a $4850 Louis Vuitton dress.
That same day, Kylie and Kendall Jenner were also seen making their way into the studio, both in full hair and make-up but not yet dressed for the interview.
Khloe Kardashian was seen in the parking lot outside the studio as was a bearded Scott Disick, who was also not featured in Kelly’s interview.
Disick appeared to be in attendance for the E! taping, which also appeared to feature Ryan Seacrest, who was also photographed in the parking lot of the studio.
