LA apartment where model Christy Giles spent her final hours

Police have interviewed two men who were the last to see a Los Angeles model alive before her body was dumped at a hospital on Saturday – but her husband claims their alleged alibi doesn’t add up.

Christy Giles, 24, and her friend Hilda Marcela Cabrales-Arzola, 26, went to the West Hollywood home of three strangers after meeting them at a warehouse party in East LA late last Friday night.

The women, their bodies cold, were dumped at two separate hospitals by men in balaclavas driving a car with no plates on Saturday evening. Hilda, a Mexican designer, was revived but is likely brain dead.

In an exclusive interview with DailyMail.com Giles’s husband Jan Cilliers, 41, revealed that detectives told him they had interviewed two of the three men with whom Christy spent her final hours.

The men, who rent an apartment in West Hollywood that Christy’s phone recorded as her last live location, allegedly admitted to cops that they took the girls home from the warehouse party, claimed the women took drugs and overdosed, and that they immediately took them to the ER.

However, texts from Christy’s phone reviewed by DailyMail.com cast doubt on the men’s alleged account – leading her husband to believe they forcibly drugged both women.

After arriving at their home, an apparently uncomfortable Christy texted Hilda ‘let’s go’ with a wide-eyed emoji at 5:30am on Saturday morning. Hilda replied ‘Yes. I’ll call an Uber. 10 minutes away.’

At 5:36am a friend called Eddie who was at the official afterparty the girls had planned to go to texted Christy: ‘Where you at?’

Read receipts show Christy never read the text, nor any others after that, and Uber records show the women never got in their cab.

Cilliers believes that in those six minutes, something happened to his wife and her friend that left them incapacitated.

But it wasn’t until 12 hours later, at 5pm on Saturday, that CCTV at Southern California Hospital in Culver City showed men in masks and hats pulling up in a black Toyota Prius with no license plate and dumping Christy’s body – and another two hours before Hilda was left at nearby Kaiser Permanente hospital in West LA.

Cilliers said hospital staff told him both women’s bodies were cold when they were admitted, which could mean that whatever killed his wife had happened several hours earlier.

Texts between the two women showed Christy sent a message to Hilda at 5:30am when they were at the apartment, reading: 'let's go.' Hilda replied: 'Yes. I'll call an Uber' - however, the two were never picked up

‘She didn’t deserve any of this. She was such a bright light, a beautiful, joyous soul. The fact that somebody took that light and snuffed it out is just so, so wrong,’ he told DailyMail.com.

‘Inside that six minute gap, they became incapacitated. That Uber never got picked up.

‘It’s clear the girls tried to leave, so there’s definitely some foul play involved here.

‘These girls were obviously deceased for a long time before they got taken to the emergency rooms. My wife got taken to the emergency room at 5pm on Saturday, which is 12 hours after her last text message.

‘Hilda got taken to a completely different emergency room two hours after Christy, at 7pm.’

Cilliers said police were only able to link the two women’s cases because Hilda shared her location with a third friend.

The widower said that data showed her traveling to the West Hollywood house with Christy, then being taken to Kaiser Permanente two hours after Christy was dumped at Southern California Hospital.

Cilliers said the timings make the men’s alleged alibi implausible.

‘Their story to the police is that they were doing drugs with the girls, and then they said to the police that as soon as the girls overdosed that they took them immediately to the ER,’ he said.

‘Does that mean [Hilda] Marcella overdosed two hours after Christy, so when they took Christy to the ER was Marcella staying home doing more drugs? The story doesn’t really add up.’

Cilliers added that police told him one of the men left the house at 9am on Saturday morning, but did not give further information on their locations on Saturday before the women’s bodies were dumped.

‘Because my wife Christy is a corpse they have to wait till she gets the coroner’s medical exam results, so no toxicology or rape kit has already been done,’ Cilliers said.

Christy’s mother Dusty Giles, a 49-year-old nurse, told DailyMail.com that Kaiser medics performed a toxicology on Hilda, which showed heroin in her system as well as trace amounts of cocaine and ecstasy.

Dusty and Cilliers say although Christy sometimes took cocaine or ecstasy, she reviled heroin after an overdose killed her close friend’s ex and sent her cousin in and out of rehab. Dusty said Hilda’s friends and family told her she had the same attitude.

Cilliers says a car matching that description was caught on hospital CCTV dropping off the two bodies on Saturday.

The bereaved husband went with detectives to the East LA warehouse, Autoluxe LA, on Thursday to review security camera footage which he said showed three men leaving with Christy and Hilda.

Homicide detectives have interviewed two of them, who are registered as living at the apartment, and are still pursuing the third. No arrests have been made.

An LAPD spokeswoman said the case ‘right now is an undetermined death and an ongoing investigation,’ and declined to give further details.

Cilliers said his wife’s death left him with a ‘huge hold in my chest’.

‘I’m so angry, I don’t think I’ll ever stop being angry. I’m mostly in disbelief, just shock and anger and hatred at these people that did this to her.

‘She didn’t deserve any of this. She was such a bright light, a beautiful, joyous soul. The fact that somebody took that light and snuffed it out is just so, so wrong.

‘It’s hard to even think of these people as human. Who does that to somebody else?’

‘It’s been really, really amazing, the support that we’ve been getting. But at the same time, I still have this huge hole in my chest where she is no longer there.’

Cilliers said he fell head over heels for Christy after meeting her at an art gallery in early 2019, and told her he loved her after just three days.

‘We had one of the most fairytale romantic relationships. Our first date was on Valentine’s Day 2019. We got married by September that year,’ he said.

‘She’s obviously beautiful on the outside. But really, her beauty is just who she is as a person on the inside.’

The couple travelled the world, visiting exotic locations including Morocco and Bora-Bora.

He was even planning to take her on a nine-day African safari in a month, where he was planning to introduce Christy to his South African mother for the first time.

The Hollywood visual effects designer and the model got married at Southern California desert festival Burning Man.

Cilliers said they were planning on a ‘ply wedding’ where festival-goers could be ‘married’ for a weekend, but then both decided with friend – who happened to be a licensed officiant – to get hitched for real.

‘We had just heard the story of people coming into Burning Man and their RV got blown off the road and three of them died. It was the most tragic, horrific thing. We had a discussion that if we don’t take our marriage to the ultimate point we’ll just regret it for the rest of our lives.

‘We had just the most epic, epic time together.’

Cilliers said though his wife led a glamorous life, being signed to Wilhelmina Models age 14 and travelling the world for photoshoots, she ‘kicks ass and is very street smart.’

‘She got scouted at a mall, then her life changed. She went to Miami worked there for a while, in London, Peru, LA, all the major markets,’ he said.

He added that she still enjoyed the simple pleasures. ‘Her favorite thing to do was take walks on the beach every evening,’ he said.

‘Her energy is very happy-go-lucky. Like you can you can tell when you’re around her that she’s just as free as a butterfly. She flaps around and brings joy into everybody’s life that she touches.’

As the widower anxiously awaits the coroner’s report and the statements of the as-yet illusive third man the girls spent the night with, he said he hopes those responsible for Christy’s death rot in prison.

‘They should be thrown in jail and the keys thrown away,’ he said. ‘I wish that what happened to my wife happened to them honestly. It’s not fair that they get to live and she has to die.’

Cilliers said he and his friends are hoping for a ‘miracle’ for Hilda’s recovery.

‘We’re all praying that she pulls through and then she could obviously tell us everything about what happened that night,’ he said.
