Lady Colin Campbell ‘could be making Meghan her next target’

Lady Colin Campbell wrote an unauthorised book on Princess Diana which unveiled several secrets

There’s another headache for the Duchess of Sussex, who has to put up with regular embarrassing outbursts from her father, Thomas Markle.

Friends of royal author Lady Colin Campbell say they fear she is lining up Meghan as her next subject.

Lady Colin, who found fame on TV reality show I’m A Celebrity . . . Get Me Out Of Here!, has form when it comes to muck-raking.

She wrote an unauthorised book, Diana In Private, which made shocking claims that later proved to be true, including Princess Diana’s struggle with bulimia and her affair with James Hewitt. Andrew Morton’s Diana: Her True Story was published several months after Lady Colin’s book in 1992.

Lady Colin is understandably coy about the matter. ‘I am writing a new book but I am not prepared to discuss what it is about yet,’ she says. ‘The thing about Meghan Markle is that it is a developing story . There is a lot more about her to come out yet.’

The Duchess of Sussex might be concerned to hear that Lady Colin has formed a close friendship with her nephew Tyler Dooley, a cannabis farmer from Oregon, where the drug is legal.

Indeed, Lady Colin has even been for a couple of nights out on the town with Dooley. ‘We met through my sons and the MTV show The Royal World and hit it off straight away,’ says Jamaica-born Lady Colin, who is divorced from Lord Colin Campbell, son of the 11th Duke of Argyll. ‘He’s a very nice boy.’

Dooley, the son of Tracy Dooley and Meghan’s half-brother Thomas Markle Jr, launched a new marijuana strain, Markle Sparkle, in honour of the royal wedding.

‘I have talked to Tyler about Meghan and he doesn’t want to trash her, but there is a good story to be had about Tyler and his connection to Meghan,’ says Lady Colin.

‘I have got my sources, but through Tyler I found out that the dynamics of the Markle family are absolutely fascinating. Yes, far more than what’s been revealed so far.’

Age shall not wither the Prince of Wales. Highgrove shop is selling a limited edition of 70 enamelled boxes — priced £395 apiece — embellished with a portrait of HRH to commemorate his 70th birthday, which he celebrated last month.

But the portrait is of a much earlier vintage: it was completed by artist Susan Crawford in 2000, which explains why Charles appears so immune to the ravages of time.

Crawford’s other commissions include painting the Queen Mother at the age of 101: perhaps Charles will sit for her again in 30 years’ time?

Hugh Grant has finally become a Bafta member, 23 years after winning the best actor gong for the Richard Curtis-scripted Four Weddings And A Funeral. What took the 58-year-old star so long to join the 8,000 strong panel? ‘Perhaps he didn’t want to pay the [£450] subscription fee,’ jokes one Academy veteran.

Ex-Defence Secretary Michael Fallon could not contain himself when he spotted a fellow former minister across the room at the Adam Smith Institute Christmas party. ‘Damian Green’s a slaphead,’ snorted Fallon.

‘They say men who are bald have more testosterone but I disagree. I think they are just trying to over-compensate for their baldness.’ Green stoutly defended his gleaming pate. ‘It is the best way to be!’ he said. ‘When Bruce Willis starred in Die Hard he made it cool to be bald again.’ Again?

Strictly boss waltzes off with £330,000 windfall

Strictly Come Dancing’s final takes place this Saturday, but there’s already one clear winner.

The show’s executive producer Louise Rainbow, who announced she is quitting, has just revealed she stands to make £330,000 after closing her TV company.

Rainbow, who has been in the hot seat for six years, is set to get the windfall after opting to shut the business, Louise Rainbow Ltd.

Her time in charge of Strictly has not been without controversy and she has overseen the axing of professional dancers James and Ola Jordan and Brendan Cole.

Rainbow says: ‘Working on Strictly has been the most amazing six years of my career and it’s an honour to be the show’s longest-serving executive producer.’
