Lady Gaga dons showstopping gown at A Star Is Born premiere in London

She plays struggling singer Ally in her first lead movie role in Bradley Cooper’s tragic romance A Star Is Born.

And Lady Gaga ensured she pulled out all the sartorial stops as she attended the star-studded London premiere of the hotly-anticipated film at Vue West End cinema on Thursday.

The six-time Grammy Award winner, 32, looked showstopping in a Elizabethan-inspired ivory gown, with a decadent gold embellished corset-style bodice as she put on an affectionate display with Bradley, 43, on the red carpet.

The actress, born Stefani Joanne Angelina Germanotta, certainly turned heads in her dramatic gown, which gave a sartorial nod to a bygone era thanks to the tiered full skirt and trumpet sleeves.

Injecting a modern dose into the irreverent garment, Gaga flashed a peek of her cleavage thanks to the cut-out neckline of the bodice, which was embellished in ornate pearl gold and cream swirls.

The Bad Romance singer injected a final regal flair thanks to the ruffled collar of the dress, which balanced out the revealing upper-half of the creation.

Letting the statement garment do all the talking, the Grammy favourite styled her golden tresses in a sleek fringe, with soft layers framing her face, and the rest swept back into an intricate chignon.

The singer also discussed the Oscar buzz already surrounding the film, insisting that the ‘real reward’ for her is starring in the movie.

‘That’s very humbling but the rewards for me was making this movie with a wonderful director, a beautiful cast, the family that Bradley Cooper created, it’s so authentic and real, we love each other so much. That’s the real reward for me,’ she said.

Gaga added that she was surprised to end up in the film as she was so ‘terrible’ at auditions for roles in commercials that she gave it up to be a singer.

‘Well, what’s different between Ally and I is that when I decided I was going to go for it as a singer and songwriter, I just hit the ground running,’ she told People.

‘What I had to do was go back further into my childhood, into my high school years, when I was bullied and made fun of for having big dreams.

‘That’s where I went. But I think I went further because I trusted Bradley [Cooper] so much – to be vulnerable, to be my authentic self.’

This is the fourth remake of the romantic film that originally premiered in 1937.

‘Because we have seen so many incarnations of this film, we know already that this story has stood the test of time,’ Lady Gaga said during a Venice Film Festival press conference.
