Foodies are overjoyed after discovering the ‘perfect’ supermarket in the heart of an Australian city – and thousands claim it easily outranks Coles and Woolworths.
Fan-favourite Italian supermarket LaManna is in Essendon Fields in north-west Melbourne.
Vince and Linda LaManna first visited the empty building when it was nothing more than a post WW2 component overhaul space – but their vision and dreams for a high-quality Aussie supermarket shone through.
The family opened the store in 2010 hoped to make it a go-to destination for shoppers in Victoria, and the supermarket now spans 10,000sqm and contains a wide range of meat, deli, seafood, bakery, patisserie items, and groceries.
Featuring 100 per cent Australian-grown fruit and vegetables, LaManna has been praised for affordable prices and excellent specials, ranging from homegrown carrots to name-brand protein yoghurt.
The couple’s children Patrick, Tanya, and Stefanie have since taken over the reins of the hotspot – but continue to provide their shoppers with old-fashioned charm and unparalleled customer service.

The store had Middle-Eastern, Greek, and Freekeh grain salads, accompanied by falafel and miso chicken meals.
