Lara and Eric Trump give tour of their son’s nursery

It seems that enthusiastic hunter Eric Trump is already trying to pass on his passion to his one-month-old son Luke by filling the little boy’s nursery with a plethora of safari-themed decor – including mounted animal heads on his wall.

President Trump’s 33-year-old son, and his wife Lara, 35, proudly opened up their newborn’s nursery to the cameras this week for a segment which aired on Fox & Friends on Friday morning, happily gushing over their ‘sweet’ son, while revealing a baby room that is full to the brim of animal-focused elements – no doubt inspired by Eric’s well-known fondness for hunting and killing animals.

While the new parents have been happily sharing images and videos of their son almost daily since his birth at the end of September, this is the first time that the happy couple has shared an inside look at their son’s room.

After sitting down with correspondent Ainsley Earhardt for a face-to-face interview, during which the couple was keen to address several hot topic issues regarding President Donald Trump’s administration, the conversation quickly turned to their first child, who Lara proudly gushed is a ‘great baby’ who ‘really does not cry’.

‘He’s a great baby, he really does not cry that much, he’s so sweet… and he has a lot of hair!’ the new mom said of her son when asked by correspondent Ainsley Earhardt.

‘Apparently he has more hair than most babies!’ she added, prompting husband Eric to chime in: ‘He has the Trump hair!’

Certainly little Luke can give his grandfather Donald Trump a run for his money in the hair department, with the cameras zooming in to capture his shock of blonde locks as he slept in his mother’s arms.

During the interview, Lara also opened up about her inspiration for Luke’s name, explaining: ‘Luke was my dad’s dad, and I heard such incredible stories about him, and I always said that if I had a son, I’d really love to name him after my grandfather.

‘So it’s very special.’

While the mother-of-one did not share whether her family has had much the chance to spend much time with her newborn, Eric proudly revealed that his father spent ‘a bunch of time’ with ‘little Luke’ during his trip to the UN in September, when he spent several days in New York.

During this time, Luke’s aunt Ivanka, and her husband Jared, also had a chance to bond with their nephew.

After sitting down for their interview, Lara and Eric then took Ainsley on a quick tour of the nursery, raising their sleeping son from his crib in order to meet the TV host.

The couple appears to have opted for a safari theme while decorating the room, which is painted in a deep teal blue, and features numerous safari-style decor elements, as well as an impressive book collection – which they were all too happy to show off to the cameras.

Above their son’s white wooden crib there are several framed pictures featuring different safari animals, including a giraffe, a zebra, and a deer.

These retail for $219 each and also appear to have been purchased from RH Baby & Child – although the versions available on the store’s website come in brown frames, suggesting the couple had the items customized to suit their white-and-blue baby room.

Lara and Eric seemed to be particularly proud of their one-month-old son’s book collection, flashing the shelf full of baby-appropriate literature to the cameras, while also revealing a sweet framed picture of themselves in Aspen, Colorado, with their two dogs.

The sweet portrait of the couple and their beloved pups was originally shared as part of their official pregnancy announcement earlier this year, so clearly holds a special place in their hearts.

Luke’s ‘amazing’ book collection includes several childhood favorites, from Baby Touch and Feel Animals ($5.99) and Blue Hat, Green Hat by artist Sandra Boynton ($5) to a safari-themed book by Sebastien Braun entitled Can You Say It, Too? Roar! Roar!

The couple was also only too proud to reveal that they had a copy of Fox correspondent Ainsley’s book Through Your Eyes perched on the shelf as well.

Adding to the safari theme, the books were held up with two felt bookends, an elephant and a giraffe, which come in a set, and which are also available from RH Baby & Child ($55).

The safari theme will come as no surprise to friends and fans of the Trump family; Eric and particularly his brother Don Jr. are known to be fans of hunting, an activity which President Trump has defended in the past, after images of the brothers with their trophy kills went viral on Twitter.

During a press conference in January 2016, he said: ‘My sons love to hunt. They are members of the NRA, very proudly. I am a big believer in the Second Amendment.

‘But my sons are hunters, Eric is a hunter and I would say he puts it on a par with golf, if not ahead of golf.

‘My other son, Don, is a hunter. They’re great marksman, great shots, they love it.’

Images of the brothers showed them posing with a number of animals, including a leopard, an elephant, a waterbuck, a crocodile, and a Cape Buffalo Bull.

Although this is the first time that cameras have gone inside newborn baby Luke’s nursery, it is certainly not the first time that the proud parents have shared images and videos of their son with the world.

On Wednesday evening, Lara took to Instagram to share a video of Luke in his play seat, before posting a snapshot of Eric giving her a sweet kiss on the head at the White House.

‘My other favorite part of today,’ Lara captioned the selfie, which was taken on a balcony overlooking the Washington Monument.

Lara is smiling for the camera in the snapshot, while Eric has his lips puckered and pressed to her temple.

The new mom was sporting a tan blazer over a patterned dress, and she looked surprisingly well-rested despite having a newborn at home.

The animal activist was in Washington, D.C. on Wednesday to host an unprecedented meeting with presidential aides and two cabinet secretaries about a ‘pets for vets’ campaign that would pair war veterans with homeless pets living shelters.

‘I was honored to participate in a White House round table today discussing ways to help veterans and homeless dogs simultaneously. My favorite moment was meeting a veteran named Justin and his service dog Thor (who likely “sits” better for Justin) More to come — stay tuned!’ she captioned an image of herself petting the veteran’s service dog.

The next day, Lara returned to Instagram to share a video of baby Luke cuddled inside his baby seat.

The little boy is seen wearing a black onesie featuring a pair of aviator sunglasses and the words, ‘Talk to me, Goose’ — one of Tom Cruise’s famous lines from the 1986 film Top Gun.

Lara starts the video with a full shot of Luke in his Top Gun-inspired onesie before zooming on the baby’s chubby cheeks and deep blue eyes.

The mom recently opened up about breastfeeding her son during her and her husband’s appearance on the Fox New program Justice with Judge Jeanine, saying ‘it’s amazing.’

‘It’s sort of incredible that the human body not only provides you with the immense love that you naturally and immediately have for another human you just met, but that you can provide everything that they need,’ she gushed.

The new mom has already gone back to work several days a week, but she admitted that she thinks about Luke the entire she is there. However, when she gets home, all she thinks about is being at work.

Lara, who is working on her father-in-law’s 2020 re-election campaign, admitted that ‘it is a definite balancing act when you are a mom that also works.’

And while Lara said Eric is ‘ready for number two,’ she is clearly enjoying every moment with her first born.
