A photo of a large snake hiding in an Australian kitchen has baffled social media users – with no one being able to spot it. 

Brisbane Snake Catchers uploaded the image, taken in an elderly couple’s home in the coastal suburb of Wynnum, Brisbane. 

They challenged their Facebook followers to try and find where the snake was hiding.

Over 150 people guessed unsuccessfully. 

Some said it was behind the cane basket above the stove, others said it was hiding in one of the cupboards, but each guess was met with disappointment.  

‘We went easier on you guys this time,’ the Brisbane Snake Catchers Facebook page said. 

The snake is actually hiding behind the plate decorated with a snowman above the cupboards on the top right. Its body can barely be seen but those with a keen eye can see the shape of it just behind the air freshener next to the plate

The stealthy snake was caught by Stewart Lalor and was identified as a carpet python. 

Carpet pythons are usually found throughout northern, eastern and southern Australia. 

They can grow more than three metres in length and are non-venomous.
