Larry told Daily Mail Australia at the time part of his motivation had been wanting to impress his wife Sylvie Emdur.

‘We were coming up to our 20th wedding anniversary and the idea was to give Sylvie back the young, healthy boy that she married 20 years ago. That was the start of it,’ he said.

Reflecting on the gruelling workout regime he said: ‘It was one of the hardest challenges I’ve ever had in my life.’

‘If I trained like that when I was 25 or 30 it’d be different but as an old man now it’s much different,’ he added.
