Las Vegas shooting survivor gives birth to boy

A pregnant woman who had to crawl to safety as mass murderer Stephen Paddock rained down on a festival in Las Vegas has given birth to her son.

Markie Coffer, who was nine-months pregnant and overdue by a week, said she went to the Route 91 Harvest country music gig on Sunday in part to ‘help my baby come out’.

She was especially excited to see the main act, who was playing when Paddock began his killing spree just after 10pm, after having had a ‘blast’ at the festival with her children the previous night.

The mother-of-four told Fox5: ‘We were really excited to see Jason Aldean, the main guy, so we definitely stayed to the end, and then towards the end it got crazy.’

She had gone with her boyfriend, Travis Matheson, and her brother, Cody.

When the firing began, Army veteran Matheson said his training kicked in.

He explained: ‘I told her, “We got to get to safety and find somewhere to hide”.’

They crawled, military-style, across the festival field before they made it to safety before being rushed straight to the hospital.

But Cody, Coffer’s brother, had taken a bullet to his shoulder.

Just two days later, she gave birth to Wyatt – the ‘light at the end of the tunnel’, according to Matheson.

Coffer said: ‘He’s been unique since the beginning.’

She added: ‘I’m thankful nothing happened worse to any one of us … and we couldn’t be here for him. It was perfect timing for him.’
