‘Last night was fun!’ proclaims Warren at first campaign stop since bruising Bloomberg at debate

Elizabeth Warren continued her momentum from Wednesday’s debate into Thursday morning when she rallied supporters at her North Las Vegas field office, spending the majority of her less than 10-minute remarks going after Michael Bloomberg.

‘You know last night was a lot of fun,’ Warren said to an intimate room of around 200 supporters, where about half the crowd was forced to squeeze into standing-room-only.

‘I’ll tell you why,’ the Massachusetts senator continued, launching her assault on her billionaire competitor.

‘Because for me, it’s about accountability,’ she said. ‘I have really had it with billionaires, regardless of party, who think that the rules don’t apply to them.’

Attendees were fired up for Warren’s canvass kickoff event after the senator earned back her campaign’s momentum at the ninth Democratic primary debate in Las Vegas Wednesday night as she found a new common enemy within the party: Bloomberg.

Warren’s campaign had lost much of its energy in Iowa and New Hampshire, as Senator Bernie Sanders emerged as the favorite progressive candidate when she fell to third and fourth place respectively in the early primary contest states.

She also had failed to make an impact at the past few debates before Las Vegas.

The Senator, however, plans to win back her drive in Nevada as voters prepare to caucus on Saturday after Warren showed up for a strong debate performance Wednesday, where she was largely lauded the winner.

In a surprise appearance on ‘The View’ before her campaign event Thursday morning, Warren said she felt good about her debate performance.

‘You know, I feel good about it. I had a job to do and I came and I did it,’ and if that job was the excoriate Bloomberg on stage, she’s right.

‘Yesterday Mayor Bloomberg announced that everyone should drop out of the race except himself and Bernie Sanders and they should decide who the nominee will be. Well, I take exception to that. I’ve been told to sit down and be quiet enough in my life. I’m ready to stay in this fight,’ she told the panel.

Bloomberg was the obvious loser at the debate as he faced an onslaught of questions and attacks from both the moderators and fellow Democrats for his comments towards women, his wealth and implementing racist stop and frisk practices during his time as mayor.

During her first comments of the debate, Warren likened Bloomberg to Donald Trump, and brought up his track record, including calling women ‘fat broads’ and ‘horse-faced lesbians.’

She invoked the same fowl language at her Thursday morning event.

‘And then just, when someone complains, throw a little money on it, and put a gag in the woman’s mouth,’ Warren said of Bloomberg’s Non-Disclosure Agreements with women who have made complaints against him.

‘That’s not right, and that’s not going to be our candidate for President of the United States,’ she said to the rambunctious room.

She used her time before her supporters to attack the former New York City for stop and frisk.

‘The answer from the mayor was silence – crickets,’ Warren said of Bloomberg when he faced calls to end stop and frisk while he was mayor. ‘Right up until he realized, ‘Gee, I was planning to buy a presidency. And what could go wrong?’

An audience member then shouted out: ‘Elizabeth Warren,’ suggested she was the former mayor’s worst nightmare in the primary.

Bloomberg entered the race in mid-November and quickly rose to prominence among his competitors as he spent hundreds of millions of his own money to fund his campaign.

In announcing he would not be taking campaign contributions, Bloomberg likely expected never to make the debate stage – as the Democratic National Committee previously required candidates to amass a certain number of donors to make the stage.

But the DNC threw out that requirement for the debates in Vegas, and instead said candidates could make the stage by either earning a certain amount in early voting and national polls or earning delegates in early voting states that had already caucused or voted.

Bloomberg qualified for the Wednesday debate on Tuesday when new polling was released.

The other five candidates who qualified claimed they were glad he would have to face questions at the debates and that he couldn’t hid behind his TV ads anymore.
