Laura Tobin ‘threatens to quit’ after being accused of ‘microaggression’ during banter with Adil Ray

‘This is my last day of work’: Laura Tobin ‘threatens to quit’ after being accused of ‘microaggression’ during banter with GMB co-star Adil Ray

Laura Tobin and Adil Ray engaged in some onscreen banter during Thursday’s Good Morning Britain before Laura threatened to quit the ITV show.

The back and forth started after it was revealed that Laura had accidentally called her co-star ‘Aled’, with her mistake mocked by Adil throughout the show.

Adil was quick to bring up Laura’s error as the show cut to the brunette for a weather update, saying sarcastically: ‘Let’s have a look at the weather now. Err Lisa is at Castle Farm in Kent. It is Lisa isn’t it? Oh Linda, sorry Linda!’

Adil’s co-host Charlotte Hawkins rolled her eyes and laughed before Laura told Adil:

‘I’ve already text you to say I’m sorry, haven’t I?’ The issue didn’t end there though as she made the same mistake again, saying: ‘I text Aled…’ quickly realising her mistake as Adil and Charlotte both gasped.

‘You did it again! Laura, you’re doubling down on it!’ Charlotte told her.

An embarrassed Laura quickly replied: ‘It’s just because I literally just text Adil to say that, ‘I am sorry’, and he replied, ‘who is this?”

‘This is my last day of work at Good Morning Britain, I can say I’ve really enjoyed working with everybody, thank you so much,’ she then joked before suggesting they move on.

‘Yes! Move on, swiftly!’ Adil replied.

Despite the light-hearted nature of the banter, one viewer insisted they detected tension, tweeting: #aled? bit of micro aggression from laura there #gmb.’

GMB’s main anchor Susanna Reid has been missing from the show this week, with Ranvir Singh and Charlotte Hawkins both stepping in.

And the switch-up didn’t go unnoticed by fans, who were worried about 51-year-old Susanna’s whereabouts on Monday.

Taking to social media, viewers tweeted GMB to question where Susanna was, asking if she was ok and explaining ‘the fans miss her’.

I quit! 'This is my last day of work at Good Morning Britain, I can say I've really enjoyed working with everybody, thank you so much,' Laura then joked

One asked: ‘Where is Susanna? Feels weird that neither Richard, 66, or Ranvir, 44, explained where she is’, while another questioned: ‘Is she ok’.

The absence went unexplained by the breakfast show as they seemingly brushed it under the carpet, with neither Ranvir nor Richard explaining where Susanna was.

It comes following suggestions of a feud between Richard Madeley and Susanna from fans, as they suggested this could even be the reason for Ranvir stepping in.
