Lauren Brant targeted by trolls after Barry Hall’s comments about Leigh Montagna’s pregnant wife

Lauren Brant has been forced to delete vile social media messages after her partner Barry Hall made sickening comments about a former footy star’s pregnant wife.

Hall was immediately sacked by Triple M radio over his remarks concerning the wife of AFL champion Leigh Montagna, Erinn, who is due to give birth next week.

The 41-year-old suggested the male doctor who performed a procedure designed to induce labour behaved in a sexually inappropriate manner.

The former Hi-5 star was immediately swamped with hateful messages on Instagram, most of which are too vulgar to publish and have since been deleted.

‘Isn’t Lauren Brant a lucky lady if that’s where Barry Hall’s mind goes regarding childbirth,’ one comparability inoffensive Twitter post read.

‘Any sympathy or elevation in popularity Barry Hall gained from has just been destroyed,’ another said.

‘His true lack of respect for women is obvious to all. Not quite the perfect partner Lauren Brant tries to wh**e out to the public.’

While Hall was roundly condemned for his comments, some jumped to his defence and argued he never should have been sacked by the radio station.

‘Everyone makes mistakes. Aussies turning into a bunch of sooks just looking to have a whinge. Chin up Baz,’ one said.

‘If anyone actually heard the Barry Hall incident, they’d realise it was nothing more than a poorly skewed joke,’ another argued.

‘Bad taste?! Perhaps. But a complete over-reaction to be fired on the spot.’

Others blamed Montagna for bringing the topic up on live radio and said the panellists who laughed at Hall’s ‘joke’ were equally at fault.

One said: ‘Barry Hall needed to be sacked, but what on earth was Montagna thinking talking about his wife’s, very intimate and personal, medical procedures on TV?!’

‘You’ve gotta question why Joey and the others laughed at Barry’s comment. Weird conversation to have on air,’ another wrote.

‘Tonight on Triple M Football there were unacceptable and inappropriate comments made by a member of the commentary team,’ the station’s head of content Mike Fitzpatrick said in a statement.

‘The commentator was removed immediately from the broadcast and an apology was issued on air afterwards.

‘Immediate action was taken with the termination of employment for one team member.’

Hall was filling in for fellow AFL legend Chris Judd during the Triple M broadcast.

At the time he made the comments, his partner was stranded in Bali due to a volcano eruption.

Hall played for St Kilda, Sydney Swans and the Western Bulldogs during his 289-game career and is no stranger to controversy.

He was suspended four times for a combined total of 17 matches.

The most infamous incident was when he knocked out West Coast’s Brent Staker with a brutal punch in 2008 and banned for seven matches, one of the most severe punishments in the modern era of the code.

Hall gave away almost twice as many free kicks as he was given throughout his career spanning 16 seasons.

He became the first AFL player to kick 100 goals for three clubs and captained the Sydney Swans to their first premiership in 72 years in 2005.

He was a Fox Footy commentator but quit in early 2017 due to family reasons.

He met his partner while starring on the 2015 series of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here.

The couple welcomed a son named Miller last year.
