Senior AFL journalist Jon Ralph was left red-faced after posting a tweet that included a screenshot of a vulgar message from a WhatsApp group.

Ralph had tweeted an AFL-related comment about today’s Collingwood-North Melbourne clash at the MCG but it included an image of phone notifications carrying the highly inappropriate message.

Ralph has 97,100 followers on the social media platform.

‘Think about this… it took me years but eventually I banged a m*** in every toilet in the joint. I’m very proud of this,’ the WhatsApp message with the heading ‘The Grand Slam’ read.

On Saturday morning Ralph issued a contrite tweet after a Twitter user pointed out the contents of the message.

‘Yesterday I inadvertently re-published an offensive message from a WhatsApp punting chat, written by someone I do not know,’ he posted.
