Leah Remini is a ‘mess’ after dropping her daughter Sofia off at her new college in New York.

On Monday, the 52-year-old actress wrote a lengthy post on Instagram and shared that she and her husband ‘are more of a mess now’ after their 18-year-old daughter returned to school last week. 

Sofia had been attending an unnamed college last year but felt it was not a good fit for her, so she returned home.

Now the teenager is starting a new college in Manhattan.

Leah – who is also a college student as she is in her second year at NYU – wrote in her caption about how proud she was that Sofia decided to ‘course correct’ after deciding ‘that school didn’t make sense for her.’

In the comment section, her husband Angelo Pagan, 54, hinted that their only child is now attending a school in New York and wrote, ‘Now she thinks she’s running NY!’

In her latest post, the King of Queens star shared a clip from her 2014 TLC reality show Leah Remini: It’s All Relative while reminiscing on the time Sofia still lived at home.

She wrote about how difficult is has been becoming an empty nester after looking back on the video of her family: ‘The videos from our reality show get me so emotional.’ 

In her caption, the Emmy-winning actress expressed how proud she was of her daughter for making a choice that was more well-suited for her – and, at the same time, seemingly referred to her own departure from the Church of Scientology in 2013. 

‘One of the things I’ve learned in life is that there is always time to course correct,’ she wrote.

‘There’s no sense in sticking to something that doesn’t work for you. In any situation. At any point in your life,’ the Troublemaker author added. 

‘In August, our daughter Sofia enrolled in a college she thought was meant for her,’ she recalled. ‘I moved her into a dorm room and came home heartbroken to a quiet house.’ 

‘For many reasons, that school didn’t make sense for her, so she left, and we got to have her home for a few more months,’ the People Puzzler game show host revealed.

‘A few weeks ago, she started courses at another University, and we moved her into an apartment,’ she said.

She continued: ‘You’d think the second time would be easier, but Angelo and I are even more of a mess now.

‘She’s back at it now, going through all the things a first-year college student should be going through, and we, her parents, are going through what parents like us go through.’

The Kevin Can Wait alum also talked about how her and her husband are coping with becoming empty nesters. 

She said they have been ‘crying, not knowing what to do with ourselves now other than looking at pictures and videos and crying some more.’

Previously, Remini and the Swordfish actor tied the knot in July 2003.

Less than a year after marriage, they welcomed their daughter Sofia.

In the past, the Living Dolls alum also revealed how her daughter was the inspiration and driving force in her decision to leave the Church of Scientology in 2013.

Since then, she’s written and released a book titled Troublemaker: Surviving Hollywood and Scientology which details her past prior to becoming an apostate and after being raised in the religion since she was eight-years-old.
