Leah Washington and Joe Pugh hit the pumpkin patch

Alton Towers amputee Leah Washington and her boyfriend Joe Pugh enjoyed a day at the pumpkin patch they as they prepared for Halloween together. 

The couple, clad in wellies, were spotted at a farm in Pontefract, west Yorkshire, this afternoon, loading up pumpkins in preparation for October 31.

Leah and Joe were on their first proper date when the Smiler rollercoaster carriage smashed into a stationary train at Alton Towers, in Staffordshire, during June 2015.

The couple, clad in wellies, were spotted at a farm in Pontefract, west Yorkshire, this afternoon, loading up pumpkins in preparation for October 31

Leah, 19, from Barnsley, was one of two young passengers who lost a leg while her boyfriend Joe, suffered devastating injuries himself including two shattered kneecaps.

Despite the trauma of the crash, the pair have stayed together and often post pictures of their days out on social media.

In August, Leah and Joe were spotted enjoying a holiday in Marbella, Spain.

The pair were seen strolling along the golden beaches of popular resort with Leah courageously showing her prosthetic leg, while wearing a bikini.

It holiday came after Leah posted a series of ‘inspirational’ swimwear shots and said: ‘I’m starting to feel confident in my own skin’.

She said: ‘Going on holiday and wearing a bikini in front of so many other people was one of my biggest fears but now I’m starting to feel confident in my own skin (and bikini lol) and realise that every individual looks great in their own way’.

She added: ‘And don’t worry about what other people think, it’s irrelevant’.
