Leeds United’s survival hopes have been dealt a blow after Tyler Adams was forced to have surgery on a hamstring injury.

The USMNT midfielder missed the Whites’ 4-2 win at Wolves after picking up the problem in training, and was also forced to withdraw from international duty.

Now, Adams is set for an extended spell on the sidelines after it was decided by club doctors that he needed to go under the knife.

Leeds are still assessing how long the 24-year-old is likely to be out for but his absence will be keenly felt.

Adams has started 24 of 27 Premier League games this season after moving to Elland Road from RB Leipzig last summer.
