Polish international Klich certainly rose to his own defence in particularly blunt terms as a fan tweeted him.

Other Leeds fans rushed to the defence of Klich and praised his response to criticism of giving the ball away.

One fan tweeted: ‘That is an absolute class response. These people criticising any of this fantastic Leeds squad need knocking down a peg or 2.

‘You lads have given us the best few years and you’re only human, you will make mistakes but us ‘real’ fans will support you every step of the way.’

Another fan said: ‘Honest to god our Klich this has made my season. I’ve waited soooooo long for a response like this from you lads.

A third added: Spot on Klichy! Thanks for another strong performance yesterday and endless running, another point closer.’

Klich has made 30 appearances in all competitions for Leeds this season, finding the net once.

Leeds currently sit eight points ahead of the bottom three, albeit having played more games than all of their rivals below them, leaving them facing a race to secure their safety.

But the boss was most pleased to have Kalvin Phillips and Liam Cooper back at his disposal.

‘The point is certainly important in our season, but to have two big players like Liam and Kalvin back in the group and closer to full fitness is massive for us at this moment.

‘We’re going to need those guys in a big way. They provide a big presence to our team, so that was a big step forward for us.’
