Leicester City have opened talks with Lille over a proposed £21million deal for midfielder Boubakary Soumare.
Sportsmail reported Leicester’s interest earlier this year and they are looking to tie up a deal ahead of competition.
Everton and Leeds United both had scouts at Lille’s game against Lens on Friday while Newcastle have a long held interest in the highly rated 22-year old.

Brendan Rodgers is close to getting his man, who he was interested in earlier this year
Soumare, who has played a key role in Lille’s Ligue 1 title tilt this season, has also previously attracted interest from Arsenal and Tottenham.
Leicester are pushing to claim a Champions League qualifying place and that could prove decisive in negotiations despite Lille already securing their spot in next season’s competition and being just four points away from a historic Ligue 1 title triumph.
Brendan Rodgers’ Foxes are also favourites to land Soumare’s France U21 international teammate Odsonne Edouard from Celtic.
Soumare turned down a move to Newcastle last year after a £35million fee was agreed but he has remained top of the North East club’s wish list.
Covid has since brought down his price dramatically however Soumare has maintained he wishes to join a team pushing for European football.
Talks are ongoing though Lille hope there will be rival bids.
