Leila McKinnon shares real life moments with her fans

She is best known as a reporter and presenter for Channel Nine, and so it is perhaps only natural that Leila McKinnon’s passion for a story doesn’t end when she leaves the newsroom.

One look at the TV star and mother-of-two’s popular Instagram page shows the newsreader sharing inspiring, thought-provoking and sometimes downright bizarre real life moments with her fans.

From an image of passed out revellers on Bondi Beach, to a friendly kookaburra eating breakfast at a cafe and some bold fashion choices on display, FEMAIL takes a look at the most memorable snaps the high profile journalist has shared with her 33,000 followers over the years.

Each provides an interesting glimpse into the world of her fellow Australians.

Back in 2014 the presenter gave an insight into the stark reality revellers at trendy Bondi Beach could face if they allowed themselves to fall asleep on the sand after a night of celebrations on New Year’s Eve.

Leila shared a memorable snap which appeared to show a group of men and women wearing shorts and t-shirts passed out on the beach – perhaps feeling the after-effects of a big night.

It is perhaps not surprising, seeing as Leila, and her husband former CEO of Nine Entertainment Co David Gyngell, have invested in property there.

Now the pair split their time between nearby Dover Heights and the NSW north coast.

One image, from March 2016, shared to Leila’s Instagram page showed a sunbather on Bondi Beach barely visible beneath a layer of sand.

‘Oh just asking a nap under my sand blanket… as you do…’ [sic] Leila captioned this particular post – with one fan commenting wryly that the move certainly ‘saves on sunscreen’.

More snaps from what is arguably Australia’s most famous beach include an image of one man attempting a soft sand run with a huge tyre attached to his waist.

Leila had a tongue-in-cheek response to this seemingly puffed-out fitness fan.

‘New mobile repair service, need a spare tyre? We run them to you from #bondibeach #bondimoment,’ the presenter wrote this time.

More Bondi moments included a man showing off some remarkable flexibility with a yoga pose on the sand, a saxophonist playing at the skate park and a father working out with a baby strapped to his chest at the beach’s well-used free outdoor gym.

And then there are a variety of snaps that show that the Channel Nine newsreader has an eye for spotting unusual fashion trends.

One image shared by the star’s Instagram page included an interesting ensemble seemingly sported by a couple in the hipster locale of Byron Bay.

The snap – which showed an older gentleman sporting a green singlet and shorts, along with some knee-pads as he clasped a woman’s hand – caused quite a stir among the newsreader’s fans.

Another gentleman who drew admiration from the newsreader was pictured on a bench sporting a bright pink suit, a cowboy hat and ‘gems on every finger’.

The presenter also took to Instagram to share an bold fashion statement of her own – zebra print shoes featuring their own ‘tail’
