Lena Dunham compares President Trump to Dylann Roof

Lena Dunham is under fire after comparing President Donald Trump to mass murderer Dylann Roof in response to his repeated attacks on the NFL.

‘Not only is he a racist but he’s a racist with untreated mental illness. So under diff circumstances he’s Dylann Roof,’ wrote Dunham on Twitter.

Roof shot dead nine African Americans during a Bible study class in Charleston, South Carolina back in 2015.

He later revealed that he chose his victims because of their race.

Strong words: ‘Not only is he a racist but he’s a racist with untreated mental illness. So under diff circumstances he’s Dylann Roof,’ wrote Dunham on Monday (above)

Dunham’s tweet came in response to one posted by Travon Free, a writer for ‘Full Frontal With Samantha Bee.’

He wrote on Monday: ‘I’ll end this by trying to help every journalist and analyst in America: @DonaldTrump is a racist. Feel free to take it from there.’

One person called Dunham’s comment the ‘most ignorant thing ever tweeted while another wrote: ‘Aren’t you a mental health advocate? Or is that advocacy reserved for friends/public figures you agree with from afar…’

There were also a few who agreed with Dunham, as well as one person who wrote: ‘If you would use your platform to reasonably talk to people, especially ones that disagree with you, things would be much better.’

That individual then added: ‘Our country’s problem is that in age if social media, people think they can say whatever they want. Any1 who insults others w/out debating.’

Dunham did not stop her attack on President Trump there either, going on to say more in a short thread.

‘Do people get how much bravery it takes to stand up to the pres, whether you’re rich or not? These players are black Americans,’ wrote the ‘Girls’ creator.

‘Along with the president’s ire they get every violent racist who supports him. They are deluged with threats. Have to shield their families.’

She went on to state: ‘I’m not an NBA player, I’m just some random white girl on cable reruns, and since the election the violence in my feed has been terrifying.

‘Imagine their national stage, the abuse they know they’ll get for doing the right thing and the fact that they do it anyway? True applause.’

She has since been quiet on social media.

Deunham has been one of the most vocal and high-profile critics of President trump ever since he announced his intention to run for office back in June of 2015.
