Lena Dunham models an array of colorful bikinis on Instagram

Lena Dunham modelled an array of brightly colored bikinis on her Instagram page this week after the Fourth of July weekend.

The 36-year-old Girls star posted four images on Tuesday, revealing a black one-piece, followed by a green, lavender and then mustard yellow bikini, while also showing off her multiple tattoos.

Lena – who married musician Luis Felber last year – captioned the post to her 3million followers: ‘One piece two piece red piece blue piece.’

The writer and director was immediately flooded with compliments in her comment section, with musician Margie Plus gushing: ‘HOTTIE !! Love u queen.’

Scottish fashion designer Christopher Kane reacted to the pictures by commenting with six flame emojis, while influencers Cailli and Sam Beckerman wrote ‘Yasss Queeeen!!!’

Last year, Lena was applauded for her attitude towards body positivity and called out body shamers saying she wanted everyone to ‘stop equating thinness with health/happiness.’

After reading some of the negative responses about her appearance during her wedding to husband Luis, 36, she hit back: ‘It’s a little too easy to feel the glow of support and forget about the cesspool lurking behind it,’ she said about sharing her special day on social media.

‘So I took a peek, and saw some gnarly s***, most not worth responding to or even sharing with you.’

But the star said one narrative of the comments was that she should ‘somehow be ashamed because my body has changed since I was last on television.’

‘Firstly “did Lena eat the cast of Girls” just isn’t a very good joke.’ she said, adding: ‘Secondly, it’s ironic to have my body compared to a body that was also the subject of public scorn – an echo chamber of body shaming.’

In 2020, Dunham got candid with fans about her body struggles as she posted a snap of her ‘pot belly’ saying: ‘You know I’ve been thinking a lot about my pot belly in quarantine – especially as I notice an unusual amount of articles with titles like “How I Lost the Weight” and “Diet is Everything.”‘

Lena captioned the post, simply: 'One piece two piece red piece blue piece.'

‘Growing up chubby, fat, thicc, whatever you wanna call it – I always felt my body was a sign that read “I’m lazy and I have done less”‘ wrote Dunham. ‘Like if I just found the will to invest 30 per cent more I could be okay.’

‘Over the years, as my body guided me through my career and illness and disability, I started to appreciate what it was capable of.

She added: ‘But somehow, this pandemic time has brought back some of those old feelings of self-loathing and I think it all comes back to that damned to-do list, the one that started when we went into lockdown.’

Meanwhile, Lena – who is the daughter of a painter, Carroll Dunham and Laurie Simmons, a designer and photographer – has been busy in her career ever since her hit HBO show ended in 2017.

She was the executive producer of the short-lived HBO comedy Camping, which was a remake of the original British show from the darkly comic mastermind Julia Davis.

Then, in 2019, she had a cameo role as Gypsy in Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon A Time In Hollywood, as well as appearing in 2020’s Honeydew.

However, she really made a splash directing the movie Sharp Stick that was released this year to polarizing reviews.
