Lenny Dykstra tussles with the angry bagel guy at their pre-fight event

Former troubled Mets player Lenny Dykstra ended up getting into a tussle with  Angry Bagel Guy, Chris Morgan, on Thursday night during a promotional event in New York for their upcoming boxing match.

The pair were promoting their up-coming fight when the retired MLB All-Star sent the little Long Islander off the stage at the Stand Up NY comedy club on the Upper West Side.

Morgan, 45, wanted to retaliate immediately and climbed back on stage only to take off his shirt and lunge directly at Dykstra.

A number of burly men ended up having to restrain the 56-year-old before he could do any more damage.

The bagel store customer said that Dykstra ripping off his shirt was a ‘cheap shot.’

‘Once the shirt came off it was over, I was all over them, they had to get me off,’ he told The New York Post.

The pair are due to battle it out for real in the ring on September 28 in Atlantic City.

Dykstra has vowed to ‘f***ing punish’ Morgan for his women-hating tirade.

Morgan appears to be taking the challenge seriously.

‘I’ve been jogging every day. Eating better,’ he said. ‘I switched to chicken and fish, whole-wheat bagels, none of that other crap. That gluten-free crap.’

‘I am so much more ready. And I’m gonna destroy you,’ he yelled at Dykstra.

‘If you beat me I will literally walk across the country and swim across the f***ing ocean,’ Dykstra replied.

Dykstra was immortalized in New York as a member of the famous 1986 Mets team that won the World Series, but things have not gone as well for him since his playing career ended.

He has had numerous run-ins with the law for everything from sexual assault, to indecent exposure, to bankruptcy fraud.

Morgan, meanwhile, has become infamous for his short temper, having shot to fame in July when he picked a fight with strangers he thought were mocking his height in a Bagel Boss shop on Long Island.

After the clip first emerged, Morgan told DailyMail.com that he was a ‘prophet’ and the ‘Martin Luther King’ of little people.

He explained that he lost his temper because ‘I got to the point where I’d had enough.’

He claimed to be ‘tired of the immaturity’ and girls allegedly dumping him because of his height.

Morgan added: ‘The girls hate me, they don’t like me, that’s fine.

‘Now I have a mission I’m not stopping and the world is going to hear me. I want equality for everybody.’

Morgan retorted: 'Why is it OK for women to say "Oh you are 5ft' on dating sites. "You should be dead. That's OK!'

The cleaning company owner was married in 2007 but divorced five years later and since then claims women are only after him for his money.

He said: ‘I’m sick of getting constantly lied to and used on dates. And then they dump me. They tell me I’m too short.

‘They don’t have a job, or a job as good as mine. They don’t have a car. They are more overweight… and they are judging ME?’

Over the past several weeks he has tried to cash in on his notoriety, launching a Facebook page calling himself a ‘comedian’ and signing himself up for the aforementioned celebrity boxing match with Lenny Dykstra.

However, Morgan faced fierce legal opposition after he tried to adopt the nickname Bagel Boss, resulting in a cease and desist letter from lawyers for the cafe chain.

Instead he’s now using a more fitting moniker: The Angry Bagel Guy.
