Leonor, 16, and Sofia of Spain, 15, look beautiful in ballgown and jumpsuit as they attend awards

Princess Leonor, 16, and Sofia, 15, followed in their mother’s elegant footsteps as they stepped out alongside her in Barcelona this evening.

The Royal siblings attended the annual Princess of Girona Foundation Awards ceremony with Queen Letizia and King Felipe VI of Spain.

Leonor, Princess of Asturias, wore a stunning powder-blue ballerina-length gown with a bardot neckline to mark the ceremony.

She wore her hair pinned back in a bun and opted for simple teardrop earrings.

Meanwhile younger sibling Sofia wore a stylish white jumpsuit layered with a flowing cape-style top.

Wearing her golden locks down, she opted for boho waves.

The girls’ mother Queen Letizia, 49, looked chic in a navy blue off-shoulder dress with a pearled collar.

She paired the gown with a pair of navy slingback stilettos and wore her hair in a ponytail.

Letizia matched the dress with a simple pair of pearls in her ears to complement the collar.

Joining his girls, King Felipe looked dapper as ever in a black suit with a white shirt and blue tie.

The stylish family stepped out to attend the Princess of Girona Foundation Award ceremony.

The Foundation, which is currently chaired by the King on behalf of Princess Leonor, works for young people in all areas that are critical for their future.

It seeks to become a benchmark at national level in supporting young people in their professional and personal development.

In particular, the awards ceremony recognises talented young people who are held up as role models for their good work.

Earlier today the Spanish Royals stepped out in bold prints, with Leonor opting for florals while Sofia chose polka-dots.

Their mother walked proudly alongside her daughters in a billowing white midi dress paired with black espadrilles.

The trip to Barcelona marked Leonor’s first visit to the province of Girona. One of her historic titles is Princess of Girona.

Leonor has been studying at UWC Atlantic College in South Wales – based at a 12th-century castle and dubbed the ‘Hippie Hogwarts’ – since September 2021.

She has enrolled on a £67,000, two-year course to study for her International Baccalaureate diploma at the school.

UWC Atlantic College has a proven track record educating royalty. King Willem-Alexander of the Netherlands studied there in the Eighties and Belgian heir to the throne Princess Elisabeth graduated last year.

The stylish sisters also stole the show yesterday as they enjoyed a trip to the Salvador Dalí Theatre-Museum.

Appearing in public without their parents, the girls proved they are more than ready to take the royal spotlight as they smiled and waved for the cameras.

This was the siblings’ second joint outing without their parents; in July 2021, the princesses planted trees in the protected forest area of Hayedo de Montejo in Madrid, along with a group of other teenagers.
