Lewis Capaldi will make his return to live TV after a three-year-break next week as he performs his latest single Forget Me during the National Television Awards.
The singer, 25, who recently revealed he had Tourette’s syndrome, joked that his compared his unexpected return to an ‘annoying rash on your nether regions’.
The ceremony, which celebrates achievements in television, will be broadcast live on ITV from the OVO Wembley Arena on September 15.

Lewis said: ‘Like a concerning rash appearing on your nether regions after an ill advised one night stand, I’m back and i will annoy you until you give me the attention I so crave!’.
‘[I’m] So excited to be playing my brand new single ‘Forget Me’ at the NTAs this year, although I am still slightly worried the whole thing’s a ploy to grill me about my TV licence.
Before playfully adding: ‘Tune in because if my song flops I’ll not be invited back!’

The multiple Brit and Grammy nominee shot to global success with his hit single, Someone You Loved, which topped the UK charts for seven weeks.
It reached number one on the US Billboard Hot 100 and became the longest-running top 10 UK single of all time by a British artist.
The announcement comes after Lewis sported a pair of Y-Fronts and announced he’s an ambassador for Tourette’s syndrome on Wednesday, after he revealed his own diagnosis.

Tourette’s syndrome is a neurological condition characterised by a combination of involuntary noises and movements called tics.
The hitmaker took to his Instagram to poke fun at the oversized pants and joked that he will ‘never have sex again’ whilst wearing the undergarments.
Speaking in the light-hearted clip, Lewis told other’s who suffer from the neurological condition to ‘gaze upon their leader.’
Showing of the Y-Fronts, that were sent by his record label, he laughed: ‘I told everyone I had Tourettes and people on Twitter were being really nice.
‘They were saying, ‘What a great thing for someone with his profile to talk about it and be open and spread awareness, he’d be a great ambassador.’
‘Well, gaze upon your ambassador, people with Tourettes. Hello I am your leader,’ he contemplated the thought of being a ‘leader’ for others.

Laughing at the gift from his label, he added: ‘My record label have sent me Y-Fronts to promote my new single because I am wearing Speedos on the billboard for it… but they have sent me double double XL’s.
‘I know I might have put on a bit of weight but I look like I have an action man crotch, I’ve got an old man a**!’ he joked.
The Scottish musician then quipped that he would ‘have have sex again’ if a potential date ever caught a glimpse of his underwear.

The Hold Me While You Wait hitmaker revealed he is being treated with Botox injections to freeze his muscles to try to control the tics.
Speaking to his fan on an Instagram Live, he said: ‘I have been diagnosed with Tourette’s. I wanted to speak about it because I didn’t want people to think I was taking cocaine or something.

‘My shoulder twitches when I am excited, happy, nervous or stressed. It is something I am living with. It is not as bad as it looks.’
He also opened up on the condition to his fans in an Instagram Live session, explaining that it could sometimes be ‘painful’ and ‘uncomfortable’.
Lewis said: ‘It’s a new thing. I haven’t really learnt much about it. I got Botox in my shoulder to stop it moving but I’m learning new ways to cope all the time.
‘Some days it’s more painful than others, sometimes it’s quite uncomfortable but I guess that’s it.
‘When they told me, ‘We think you’ve got Tourette’s’, I was like, ‘Do you know what, that makes so much sense’.
‘When I look back at my interviews from 2018 I can see that I’m doing it.’
Keeping a positive attitude, the Glaswegian added: ‘It comes and goes. Sometimes I can go months without doing it. I thought I had some horrible degenerative disease so I’ll take Tourette’s.’
Lewis’ revelation comes says after he announced he will finally be releasing a brand new single, while admitting he was ‘nervous’ to share the song.
During his second sold-out show at London’s O2, the singer debuted his new single Forget Me which is out on September 9.
Lewis played a clip of his soon to be released single to the arena whilst live on TikTok to over 57,000 fans.
The new song comes three years after the release of Lewis’ debut album Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, which spent 10 weeks at the top of the UK charts.
Last year the Scottish artist postponed all of his live shows to focus on recording a follow-up.
During the rescheduled concert, Lewis announced: ‘I said at the start of the show it’s been a while since I released new music, a very long time, three years in fact, but thankfully on 9 September that changes.
‘Next week I release my first single from this next album. It’s called Forget Me, so that’s good news. As well as that, I am going to play that song for everybody here tonight.
‘I am showing 20,000 people my song for the first time. I’m very nervous. No one has heard any of this music apart from you all here tonight.’
The NTA’s will be broadcast live on ITV and ITV Hub from 8pm September 15.
