Lewis Hamilton looks bold in blue as he takes to the tracks before the Austrian Grand Prix… after signing a new £80m contract with Mercedes

He’s often spotted out and about showing off his edgy fashion credentials.

But Lewis Hamilton went for a more relaxed look as he headed out for a stroll at the Red Bull Ring in Spielberg on Sunday ahead of his big race.

The Formula One ace, 36, was gearing up for action at the Austrian Grand Prix as he was spotted in a pair of bright blue boots to match his jacket, after signing a new two-year deal with Mercedes worth £80m.

Lewis wore a pair of black shell suit style bottoms with silver stripes across his knees winding up over his thighs to the back of his leg.

The British sportsman appeared pensive as he held his hand up to his face while wearing a pair of dark sunglasses on the track.

Lewis’s braided hair was pulled back into a ponytail on the back of his head. 

Sharing snaps of his look on Instagram, he commented on his simple but bold look. He wrote: ‘Came in my rain suit and wellies hoping for rain but it’s still hot af.’

Lewis is currently trailing behind Max Verstappen in the drivers’ championship, with 138 points to the Red Bull driver’s 156. 

On Saturday, Lewis signed a two-year deal worth £80million to drive for Mercedes until at least the end of 2023.

The driver said of the new contract: ‘Mercedes are my family. I have been with them since I was 13 (when they first backed him), so it is really easy to continue.

‘I enjoy working with everyone and there is lots we can do together on and off the track and in the paddock.’

Sunday’s race comes after Lewis posted a statement on Instagram on Tuesday discussing inclusion of minorities in motorsport.

In the post, featuring was a photograph of the sportsman taking the knee before a race, he said: ‘I know there is still a lot to do when it comes to ensuring we have diversity and inclusion in our sport.

Lewis concluded, ‘I hope we can work together with the results to make this sport more accessible and diverse and ultimately more reflective of the outside world.’
