A convict has admitted to leaving his Tinder lover brain damaged after repeatedly stamping on her head and then stabbing a neighbour who tried to intervene.
Lewis Morgan violently assaulted Rhiannon Mills, whom he met on dating app Tinder while serving a prison sentence for violence towards a former partner.
The vicious attack occurred at Ms Mills’ home in Immingham, Lincolnshire, where Morgan had been staying following his release
The 34-year-old then turned him attention to neighbour Gwen Kaplan, who had called the police and ambulance service.
Ms Kaplan locked her front door and ran upstairs, only for Morgan to use a kettle to smash his way through a window.
He repeatedly stabbed Ms Kaplan in her bedroom, Sheffield Crown Court heard.
Morgan admitted a charge of attempted murder and wounding with intent causing grievous bodily harm.
The court heard that shortly before 7pm, Ms Kaplan called at her neighbour’s home when she heard her distressed calls.
Ms Mills said she was terrified about leaving her daughter while Morgan was around.
Outside he repeatedly stamped on his ex-partner, causing a brain injury which prosecutor Jeremy Evans said the ‘left her moribund’.
Neighbours in Immingham made several calls to police when the extent of the attack became apparent, with one neighbour watching the from her doorway.
Morgan turned to her and shouted ‘Is the ambulance on its way?’ Ms Kaplan replied it was en route.

Morgan then lobbed plant pots at her window and grabbed a kettle to smash his way in through a front window.
Ms Kaplan attempted to hide in an upstairs bathroom. In a call to emergency services she could be heard screaming for help and Morgan could be heard shouting ‘Am I an animal?’ said Mr Evans.
Prosecuting Jeremy Evans told the hearing that Morgan picked up two knives from the kitchen and went up to the bathroom where he repeatedly stabbed his victim.
He then dropped it and went back down to Miss Mills and put her in the recovery position and placed a blanket over her.
Mr Evans said her prognosis from her brain injury is unknown although she is now living back home.
The prosecutor said she was so severely beaten that she does not know what happened to her.
She suffered a severe brain injury, the court heard.
Morgan represented himself during the hearing at Sheffield and had initially pleaded not guilty to two charges of attempted murder.
But he later changes his pleas after a week-long trial had been set for crown court.
At a pre-trial hearing he did a dramatic ‘U-turn’ and changed his pleas.
Morgan now faces the possibility of being given a life sentence or may be jailed under the dangerous offender provision which could further limit his eventual release from prison.
Judge Jeremy Richardson QC will know of the previous offences which include a violent attack on a landlord with a broken bottle.
Sentencing of Morgan will take place on June 29 at Sheffield Crown Court.
