Liam Hendriks is officially BACK! Pitcher closes in on White Sox return FIVE MONTHS after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma as he is reinstated for Angels series
Chicago White Sox have officially confirmed the return of Liam Hendriks ahead of Monday’s game against the Los Angeles Angels, less than five months after being diagnosed with non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma.
Hendriks, 34, announced in January that he had been diagnosed with cancer and started treatment right away.
Now, after returning to baseball earlier this month in the minor league, he returns to Major League Baseball on Monday night.
As the teams were confirmed, MLB’s official account tweeted out that Hendriks was ‘a true inspiration’.
The White Sox said on their official Twitter page on Monday night: ‘Prior to tonight’s series opener vs. the Los Angeles Angels, the #WhiteSox returned right-handed pitcher Liam Hendriks from his injury rehabilitation assignment with Class AAA Charlotte and reinstated him from the 15-day injured list.’
