A lifeguard from Queensland has revealed how she managed to shed 10.5 kilos and 12 per cent body fat in just eight weeks.

Ellie Parker, a British lifeguard living in Carrara, decided to take on the F45 challenge – and now she’s the program’s global champion.

She was crowned the People’s Champion based on her overall transformation, taking into account both total body weight loss and total body fat loss.

Ms Parker started at 76.5 kilos eight weeks ago and at 31.7 per cent body fat. Now she weighs 66.1 kilos and has 19.7 per cent body fat.

‘I feel like a new person! I still cannot bloody believe it I still won’t for a while I just am so shocked!’ She wrote on Instagram.

She explained that although sport has always been her passion and a huge part of her life, she never thought she would be able to turn her life back around after she had let her exercise routine slip.

This is what led Ms Parker to sign up for the eight week challenge that F45 has become famous for.

The exercise classes are all slightly different and focus on ‘functional’ training – that is exercise that mimics or recreates everyday movement – and involve things like lifting, squatting, jumping, twisting, pulling, pushing, punching, kicking and rowing.

How does the F45 form of training differ from other workouts?

F45 Training merges 3 separate leading-edge fitness training styles into one, consummate and compelling group training experience for its members.

F45 Training combines elements of High-Intensity Interval Training (HIIT), Circuit Training, and Functional Training.

The fusion of these three training concepts has led to the development of 31 different, 45 minute workout experiences, with more in development by our F45 Athletics Department.

This combination of interval, cardiovascular and strength training has been proven to be the most effective workout method for burning fat and building lean muscle.

This was to help her manage her serving sizes as well as help her get rid of water retention, lose sugar cravings, build muscle and lean out.

Her diet consisted of meals such as a banana cacao yoghurt bowl for breakfast, tuna and egg leafy salad for lunch and coconut vegetable curry for dinner.

Some of her snack choices would consist of carrot sticks with almond butter, probiotic power choc brownie balls and trail mix.

What are their tips for burning fat?

• Green coffee bean extract supplement – Can lower blood glucose levels and improve the function of the fat-burning hormone adiponectin.

• Step up the training – Add an extra session into your weekly schedule, lift heavier and get your heart pumping!

• Fasted cardio – According to recent studies, training fasted can burn 20 per cent more body fat. The theory behind this is that the body will tap into its fat stores as energy. Tricky Tip: To prevent muscle breakdown, take a BCAA supplement half an hour prior to your F45 session.

• Cool it with the carbs – Keep your carb intake under approximately 15% of your total calories. This works out to be around 50g/day for females and 70g/day for males on the Challenge.

‘I’d be lying if I didn’t say I gave it my all, sweating my a**e off every day and I couldn’t have done any better,’ Ms Parker said.

‘I hope I can help other people take the chance like I did and achieve what they thought was unimaginable, because it is possible.’

She added that she hopes her experience will inspire and motivate other people to follow in her footsteps.

‘It’s not just the physical difference that I’ve noticed as mentally I am so much more alert than I was before,’ she said.
