Lily-Rose Depp’s TINY bra, chain-smoking and cringey talk in The Idol mocked by Chloe Fineman

HBO’s The Idol debuted on Sunday after a slew of controversy, but before the second episode debuts, Saturday Night Live star Chloe Fineman poked fun at star Lily-Rose Depp’s performance.

Depp, 24, plays actress and pop star Jocelyn, whose career is at a crossroads after an incident on her last tour and her mother’s death, before she meets the mysterious Tedros (The Weeknd) in the series – which debuted to a soft 913K viewers.

Fineman, 34, best known for her celebrity impressions of stars such as Meryl Streep, Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon and many more, took to Instagram on Thursday, sharing a video of her impression of Depp.

‘My audition for THE IDOL (must have got lost in the mail) @TheIdol (@lilyrose_depp is a GODDESS of talent),’ Fineman said in the caption.

Depp herself was a fan of the video, commenting, ‘I’m loling….. and ur makeup looks bomb,’ as Fineman responded, ‘Obsessed with you’ with two heart emojis.

The video begins with Fineman – wearing a black bra backwards and smoking a slim cigarette – asking, ‘Does my song suck?’

‘Music should sound like a s**t or a w***e,’ she added, now smoking a handful of cigarettes.

She added, ‘Anyway, I met this guy last night, his name is Tedros. He was like dressed in a bat cape, but I think he’s gonna like change my career,’ referring to The Weeknd’s character in the show.

The video then pokes fun at the final scene in The Idol premiere – where Tedros puts a red sash over Jocelyn’s face and tells her to, ‘sing like you can f**k.’

Fineman then proceeds to sing Cher’s Believe, while the next shot shows Fineman with a fistful of cigarettes again saying that, ‘music should be like poly or bi. Music shouldn’t have a gender, it just f***s, you know.’

The next shot shows her with the sash tied over her face, singing Natasha Bedingfield’s Pocket Full Of Sunshine.

She then asks with a fistful of cigarettes, ‘Does my song f**k? Like, music should f**k,’ before she’s seen singing Jewel’s Hands.

Fineman then tells the camera, ‘Come on, let’s rehearse the dance for my song that I hate,’ as she starts dancing with a cigarette.

She later says, ‘It’s so hard,’ before putting on her sunglasses and concluding by stating, ‘I was in a mental institution by the way.’

The Idol’s premiere ratings of 913K viewers represented a 17% decrease from the series premiere of The Idol co-creator Sam Levinson’s critically-acclaimed HBO series Euphoria in 2019, which drew 1.1 million viewers.

It’s worth noting also that, when Euphoria debuted in June 2019, HBO Max had not yet debuted, with the 1.1 million viewers counted across the show’s linear cable broadcasts and on-demand viewing on HBO Go and HBO Now.

The rest of Euphoria’s first season averaged 1.2 million viewers per episode, which The Idol could theoretically best if the viewer average continues to improve throughout the six-episode season.
