Lime green Gucci dragon boots with sparkly bows cost $3,790

Some designer accessories are so luxurious and exquisite, it seems quite obvious why they cost so much. But for some pricey pieces, the justification is… less obvious.

Gucci is currently selling a pair of satin knee-high boots that come in a shocking shade of lime green, and are embroidered from top to bottom with shimmery snaking dragons.

The price of this very loud, undoubtedly eye-catching footwear? A whopping $3,790.

Lot going on there! Gucci is selling these lime green knee-high boots for a retail price of $3,790

Wow… They have crystal-embellished heels and bows and are covered in dragon embroidery

In addition to color and dragon design, the shoes also have crystal-embellished low heels and giant satin bows atop each food — which themselves are bedazzled with crystals.

While the bows are removable, the overall effect is certainly busy and bright whether they’re attached or not.

The boots also come in light pink and black versions, all three of which are on sale at Barney’s for the bargain price of $1,429.

Meanwhile, the brand has another ankle-high version — with much smaller and less-flashy dragon embroidery, but still with crystal heels and bows over the toes — that cost $3,150.

While the boots are from the Fall 2017 collection, they did not actually appear on the runway at creative director Alessandro Michele’s Milan presentation.

Michele does seem, however, to have continued fondness for dragons, which also popped up in Gucci’s Fall 2018 show in February.

High-fashion fans and skeptics alike had a lot to say about the show, which included quite a few unusual touches — including balaclavas that looked like Mexican wrestling masks, New York Yankees logos, clashing prints, oversized ’80s glasses, body jewelry, and dresses over pants.

One male model wearing a crystal-embellished outfit also carried a lifelike baby dragon in his hands. While certainly bizarre, it seemed a lot less so thanks to some of the other props carried by models, including very realistic replicas of their own heads.
