Line of Duty bosses have sacked a senior crew member after the show’s stars complained after his ‘creepy’ behaviour and lewd comments to women.

The man’s employment was terminated half-way through filming the latest series of the popular television series.

A number cast members were concerned about the man’s ‘creepy comments to women’ and told the show’s stars Vicky McClure and Martin Compston.

A source told The Sun on Sunday: ‘It really is a case of life imitating art. There was a guy on set and his behaviour was troubling everyone, including Vicky.

‘He was making lewd, inappropriate, slightly creepy comments to women in particular, and just rubbing everyone up the wrong way.

‘A couple of the newer cast members were especially disturbed and had a word with Vicky and Martin Compston who are integral, long-standing members of the Line of Duty family.

‘Simply put, they won’t stand for bad behaviour.

‘They were brilliant, really compassionate and constructive in their advice and, crucially, set the wheels in motion.’

TV networks have introduced new guidelines and are increasingly vigilant about inappropriate work placed behaviour since the #MeToo movement.

The gripping procedural thriller – set in AC-12, the police’s own anti-corruption unit – has just returned for its fifth series.

Vicky McClure, who appears as Kate Fleming in the hit crime drama, has previously spoken out about harassment.

She previously told i-News: ‘I’m very lucky that I don’t have a story to tell’

‘If something happens in the office you file a complaint and there’s a process to follow but in this industry we don’t have any safeguarding.

‘And if you’re having an experience you must feel very alone about it.

‘There are evil people in this industry who need to get caught and need to be punished and that’s what’s happening.’

World Productions has been approached for comment.
