Line Of Duty’s Jed Mercurio has offered fans another glimpse of filming for series six.

The creator of the BBC police drama shared a trio of snaps featuring stars Vicky McClure, Adrian Dunbar and Martin Compston as they took a break from filming scenes in Belfast.

Line Of Duty resumed filming last month following a five month hiatus sparked by the COVID-19 pandemic, and the much-anticipated series six is expected to air in 2021.

The cast appear to be in the midst of filming a dramatic raid scene, with Vicky (who plays DI Kate Fleming), Martin (DS Steve Arnott) and Adrian (Superintendent Ted Hastings), all dressed in their full uniform with bullet-proof vests.

While one snap showed the the serious impact of the scenes, another showed Vicky and Martin messing around as she pointed a prop gun at his back.

Despite being back to work, it was clear the cast were still adhering to COVID-19 guidelines, as Vicky and Martin donned matching tartan face coverings before the cameras rolled. 

Jed captioned the post: ‘Another great week of filming in Belfast.’

The following day Jed shared another snap of Vicky reading over her lines on set, once again in a protective face mask. 

Filming resumed last month on the sixth series of Line of Duty, with new cast member Shalom Brune-Franklin seen for the first time on set recently.

Production of the eagerly anticipated sixth season of the hugely popular series was halted by the COVID-19 lockdown shortly after filming began earlier this year. 

Line Of Duty producers insisted they have worked with health and safety consultants in accordance to government guidelines to ensure the safety of cast and crew.

Executive Producer for World Productions, Simon Heath, said: ‘It’s been almost six months since we stopped shooting.

‘But following our implementation of all the industry Covid protocols, we’re delighted to be able to resume filming series six safely.’          

The new series of Line Of Duty will premiere on BBC One in 2021.
