Lisa Wilkinson shares photo of Today’s Karl Stefanovic

She abruptly left the Today show this week after a dispute over equal pay.

But it seems there’s no bad blood between Lisa Wilkinson, 57, and her co-host Karl Stafenavic, 43.

The veteran journalist shared a throwback photo of the pair taken ten years ago in a heartfelt tribute to Today show viewers.

‘It’s been a helluva week. I’m only sorry that I never got the chance to say goodbye to you all…the incredibly supportive, engaged, opinionated, clever and wonderfully diverse audience of Today,’ she wrote.

‘Thank you from the bottom of my heart for all the fun years we shared, and for welcoming me into your homes each morning. It has been an absolute privilege.

She added: ‘PS. This pic is from Karl’s and my very first publicity shoot way back in May 2007. Look at us, we were babies!!’

Lisa’s touching post comes after Karl finally broke his silence on his future with the breakfast program.

In an interview with The Sunday Telegraph the 43-year-old stated: ‘I’m not going anywhere.’

Karl said of his future: ‘I’m not going anywhere unless you’ve heard something. I’m loving the show more than I ever have.’

Despite Karl admitting that co-host Lisa’s sudden departure ‘rattled the team,’ the father-of-three said he was determined to deliver the best news content possible, and would continue to present the show next year.

‘It’s been a big week. We have nothing but love for Lisa. The most important thing (for the Today show) is to keep delivering,’ Karl said.

‘It was strange after 10 years for her not to be next to me. It’s like dancing with a new partner I guess. But the show is more important than any one person,’ he went on to say.

The Daily Telegraph previously claimed that Karl had been ‘begging to get off’ the Today show, and had felt ‘like a hostage.’

A Channel Nine executive was said to have told the publication that Karl had become tired of 3am alarms and would like to move on from the program, that reportedly earns him a multi-million dollar salary.

‘Karl has been begging to get off there forever and surprise, surprise, the joint has imploded because they never listened to this bloke,’ a network insider reportedly told the publication.

‘They haven’t let him off and he’s been like a hostage,’ they added.
