Speaking to Body & Soul, the mother-of-three revealed her health philosophy, which involves drinking kombucha, switching off technology and spending time for self-care.

Don’t be too hard on yourself

Wilkinson said women are often their own harshest critics. She insisted most of the things we tend to worry about, no one else notices.

‘So, when you do have a lot of balls in the air, just catch the ones that are realistic, and forget about the ones that are a complete waste of time,’ she said.

‘You can buy any moisturiser you want, but nothing will age you more than spending a lot of time in the sun,’ she said.

It’s an advice Wilkinson remembered reading about in a teenage magazine when she was just 16 years old.

And staying true to the advice, she has since avoided sun-baking – and would always wear a hat outside if she knows she’ll be basking in sunshine for a long time.

‘I think with any shift work, you build up a sleep debt that’s very hard to pay back,’ she said.

To unwind from her work demands, Wilkinson said she always finds time once a year to go to a health retreat.

She revealed retreats were the perfect opportunity to switch off technology, including her phone and social media for a few days.

Wilkinson said retreats were the ‘best investment for your health’.

‘It’s not enough to “be good” for one week a year and trash your body the other 51, so I try “eat the rainbow” as they say, and know what I’m eating every day,’ she said.
