Lisa Wilkinson’s most memorable moments on the Today Show

On Monday, Lisa Wilkinson revealed that she had quit the Today Show and was defecting to Channel Ten to co-host the Project.

The star’s shock departure from the Nine Network comes just months after she celebrated ten years at the helm of its flagship breakfast show.

During her decade sharing the desk with co-host Karl Stefanovic, 57-year-old Lisa hit headlines for her feisty commentary and hard-hitting interviews.

However, perhaps the star’s most memorable moment on the program came when she demonstrated her professionalism the morning after the 2009 Logie Awards.

Karl appeared on the program worse for wear after celebrating TV’s night of night’s, leaving Lisa to head the program.

‘Your husband is a lucky man’, an intoxicated Karl stated, staring at Lisa on the monitor, as tried to keep her composure.

Karl later admitted he was ‘really drunk’ when the show went on-air.

Lisa, who has previously edited Cleo magazine, also hit headlines in 2015 after she slammed the film Fifty Shades of Grey whilst on the program. 

‘Fifty Shades of Grey, is, quite simply, the worst movie I have ever seen,’ the journalist railed, as Karl sat beside her making exaggerated noises.

The star claimed the movie’s script made ‘Mills & Boon read like bleedin’ Dickens’ and slammed Dakota Johnson’s character ‘pathetic’.

Lisa famously rated the film ‘One star out of five… only because of the excellent choc top I consoled myself with later’.

In addition to her editorials on the entertainment industry, Lisa also made headlines when she underwent a mammogram live on air.

The brave brunette joined Georgie Gardner- who was Today’s news presenter at the time – for the confronting examination in 2013.

Lisa also frequently reported from the front lines of the country’s biggest news stories, memorably covering the 2009 dust storms and 2017’s Cyclone Debbie.
