Little boy, four, is nearly run over by oncoming car

A shocking video captured the moment a four-year-old boy survived being hit by an oncoming car as he rode his bicycle in a quiet residential street.

Security cameras captured the moment Declan Lin was struck by a Volkswagen on Salvado Road, in Stirling, Perth, on Thursday.

The little boy was being watched by his grandfather, but jetted off down the road as the elderly man stopped to help Declan’s little sister.

The footage shows the little boy in a neighbour’s driveway, before darting in front of the car.

With no time to stop, the car hits the four-year-old, who is flung off his bike and into the air.

Miraculously, Declan escaped serious injury but did sustain a crack in his pelvis and a bump on his head.

The little boy is currently in a wheelchair as his body is too sore to walk, but he will not have any long term issues from the accident.

The four-year-old’s mother, Yuki Zheng, told 7 News she ran out to see her son lying in the street.

‘I couldn’t stop crying because I was so worried,’ she said.

‘If he was a little bit slower or the car was a little bit faster then… I can’t imagine the result.’

Police have since reported the female driver of the car was not speeding, and the woman stopped to help after hitting Declan.

Ms Zheng also issued a warning to parents to keep an eye on their children during the school holidays.

‘Accidents can happen at any time,’ Ms Zheng said.
