Little Couple Houston home on market spared by hurricane

The stars of TLC’s ‘The Little Couple’ caught a little bit of luck when Hurricane Harvey hit in Houston, as their home that is now on the market, was spared any storm damage.

Bill Klein and Jennifer Arnold had to re-renovate their home, made popular on the show, to fit full sized potential buyers before they listed it. The house was originally customized for their height.

Klein, who is four-feet tall, says ‘When we built the home six-years-ago, we made many cabinets, counters, and fixtures low in order for us to be comfortable in our space.’ His wife, Arnold, stands three-feet, two-inches tall.

In an interview with Chron.com Klein, 42, said of the house that remained untouched after Hurricane Harvey damaged 200,000 homes in the area, ‘We un-customized the home we made for us and re-customized it for the prospective new homeowners.’

Some of the updates to the home included upgrading several spaces, totally remodeling the master bathroom and expanding the kitchen pantry.

The four-bedroom home is listed for $1,225,000.

As Harvey hit in Houston, the couple had already relocated their family to Florida, and were still getting settled in their new digs when Hurricane Irma hit the area, forcing them to evacuate.

The family made the move to the Sunshine State where Arnold, 43, is originally from so she could take a position as medical director at Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital in St. Petersburg.

‘I’m thrilled to return home to Florida,’ Arnold said.

‘The opportunity at Johns Hopkins All Children’s is a perfect fit personally for me, my husband and two kids and professionally with the growing education and research resources at the hospital.’

Both Klein and Arnold have family in Florida. ‘While there might be a bit of remorse, at the end of the day, this is gong to be a good move for everybody,’ Klein told In Touch.

‘There are so many big benefits to moving to Florida. We’ll be closer to family and they’ll have new things to explore.’

The couple have two adopted children together who are also have a form of skeletal dysplasia like their mom and dad.

The new season of The Little Couple will focus on the family’s big move, but with hurricane season gripping the US, it was not without its obstacles.

Arnold has been updating her Instagram posts to let fans know the family is safe, while giving video updates.

In a recent post she speaks about a lack of gas in the area, and being evacauted to family in the north west of the state.

‘Well there is no gas in Florida it seems, but we are fortunate — we actually did find some gas after quite sometime,’ she said in a video. ‘But I can’t believe how many gas stations are emptied,’ Arnold video’d on Sunday.

The season premiere of The Little Couple  airs on Sept. 19 at 8 pm ET on TLC.
