Liverpool have been dealt an injury blow ahead of their Premier League clash against Wolves.

The Reds take on Vitor Pereira’s side and Aston Villa over the next few days, hoping to bounce back from their dramatic Merseyside derby draw against Everton on Wednesday.

Liverpool had been leading 2-1 deep into injury time and looked set to extend their lead to nine points over Arsenal at the top of the table.

However, James Tarkowski netted a stunning 98th minute equaliser to ensure the spoils were shared, although it could still prove to be an important point after what was a difficult evening for Arne Slot’s side.

Liverpool are back in action when they host Wolves on Sunday, before they travel to Villa Park on Wednesday.

The Reds are already without defender Joe Gomez after he picked up a thigh injury during their FA Cup defeat by Plymouth last week, while Curtis Jones will miss the Wolves clash due to suspension and Tyler Morton remains sidelined.

The midfielder was sent off in the aftermath of the Everton match after clashing with Abdoulaye Doucoure.

And, speaking at his pre-Wolves press conference, Slot revealed that Cody Gakpo is also a doubt for the clash.

The Dutch forward was substituted for Darwin Nunez in the 69th minute at Goodison Park after picking up a knock.

‘We saw Trent [Alexander-Arnold], of course, being able to play,’ Slot said.

‘It was the intention to play around half an hour, I think he played somewhere around half an hour, so he will be training with us again. Joe Gomez is out and Tyler Morton is out.

‘Cody is a bit of a doubt as well, so let’s wait [to see] how he is today.

‘I had to take him off because of an injury, because he got a knock, so let’s see how he is today.’
