‘I would go for Van Dijk… he’s more complete’: Liverpool star is BETTER than Nemanja Vidic, according to World Cup winner Frank Leboeuf – despite Manchester United hero winning FIVE Premier League titles
- Defender Virgil van Dijk has starred for Liverpool over the last few campaigns
- Nemanja Vidic picked up a huge haul of trophies with Manchester United
- But World Cup winner Frank Leboeuf has claimed that Van Dijk is better
Liverpool star Virgil van Dijk is a better defender than Nemanja Vidic — according to World Cup winner Frank Leboeuf.
The central defender has been a key man for the Anfield club over the last few seasons, having helped them win the Champions League in his first full campaign on Merseyside.
Van Dijk has also been crucial to a Liverpool side that seem to be in an unassailable lead in the Premier League, along with winning UEFA Men’s Player of the Year in 2019.

He has also picked up the Club World Cup and Super Cup, although his medal tally is still behind Vidic’s own.
The Serbian won five Premier League titles at Manchester United, three League Cups and the Champions League once in a nine-year spell.
But former Chelsea man Leboeuf thinks Van Dijk is superior because of his leadership qualities.

Asked which of the two defenders he rated more highly, Leboeuf told ESPN: ‘I would go for Van Dijk. I think he’s more complete.
‘I loved Vidic, because I think he was a dog, and a fantastic defender. But Van Dijk can lead the team, and has range.
‘I don’t think Vidic was capable of doing that. Hats off to Vidic, though.’
Van Dijk and Liverpool are just two wins away from a first Premier League title amid the current crisis around coronavirus.
