Iker Casillas has been criticised by Liverpool fans after claiming Porto were on the wrong end of poor refereeing decisions in the Champions League quarter-final first leg at Anfield. 

The 37-year-old tweeted a message in Spanish after the game claiming to be 100 per cent optimistic that Porto will progress to the semi-finals, attached with pictures of two controversial incidents from the match. 

The first picture displayed Mohamed Salah’s apparent high tackle on Porto captain Danilo, after which the Egyptian avoided a red card.

The second photo depicts Liverpool goalkeeper Alisson palming the ball onto the arm of Trent Alexander-Arnold. Porto were denied a penalty after referee Antonio Miguel Mateu Lahoz consulted VAR. 

The Reds recorded a 2-0 first-leg victory thanks to first-half goals from Naby Keita and Roberto Firmino.

Liverpool fans took to Twitter to criticise the goalkeeper who received a standing ovation from the home faithful before kick-off.

One person tweeted: ‘After the respect we showed you, you show us none. Lost your class!!’  

Another fan said: ‘Thought you had class… obviously not.’ 

One person called the World Cup winner a ‘sore loser’ and told him to ‘prepare to be knocked out again,’ alluding to Liverpool’s 5-0 thrashing of Porto in the round of 16 last season.  

Jurgen Klopp’s men travel to face Porto in the second leg on Wednesday 17th April.
