Jamie Carragher has urged Liverpool to be ‘more like Chelsea’ and focus on more cup competitions after not winning ‘as much as their performances deserved’ under Jurgen Klopp.
Klopp brought back the glory days to the red side of Merseyside by winning the Champions League and Premier League in successive seasons, ending their 30-year wait for a top-flight title in the process.
However former Liverpool defender Carragher believes his former club could have added more trophies in recent seasons given the quality of their play.

‘His team have not won enough,’ he said in his column for The Telegraph.
‘Out of context, that sounds extremely unfair. A better way of putting it is that they have not won as much as their performances have deserved.
‘To put it simply, Liverpool need to become more like Chelsea.

‘What they have done so well during the Roman Abramovich era is to become serial trophy collectors. That is an area where Liverpool can and must improve.’
Liverpool’s last FA Cup success came in 2006 while they were victorious in the League Cup six years later.
The Reds reached the League Cup final in 2016, only to beaten 3-1 on penalties by Manchester City after playing out a 1-1 draw at Wembley.
Klopp’s outfit reached the last four of the Carabao Cup after beating Leicester on penalties last week and face Arsenal in that semi-final tie, while the FA Cup resumes next weekend.
Liverpool welcome League One Shrewsbury to Anfield in the third round on on Sunday, January 9.
Klopp has always been vocal on player welfare during his time at Anfield and since arriving in 2015 has largely rotated his team in the domestic cup competitions as a way of dealing with the demands of the football calendar.
The Reds boss faces a balancing act as he will be without stars Mohamed Salah, Sadio Mane and Naby Keita with the trio preparing to head off to play in the Africa Cup of Nations next month.
