Liverpool keeper Loris Karius posts cringey holiday video

Loris Karius has revealed where he went into hiding after his Champions League final calamities by posting a slick video of his summer holiday in Los Angeles.

The German goalkeeper, who returned to Liverpool for the start of pre-season earlier in the week, uploaded the short Instagram clip filmed and produced by photographer Paul Ripke.

But the clip received a backlash from fans who questioned why he was making glossy music videos instead of concentrating on his handling skills.

It shows Karius swimming in the pool of a California mansion, playing table tennis on a sun-kissed terrace, doing sprints up a hill and completing press-ups and squats under the Hollywood sign.

The clip, entitled ‘Hidden Hills’, concludes with Karius eating ice cream, watching skateboarders and visiting the beach during his summer holiday in the States.

‘Hidden Hills’ is a line from the soundtrack the video is set to – ‘Butterfly Effect’ by American rapper and singer Travis Scott.

The clips takes every opportunity to show off the finer things in his life, from the hilltop mansion and flash car to designer clothes and a gold watch.

Some in the comments section suggested Karius might concentrate more on catching balls on the football field, rather than trying to bolster his own image and ego with professionally-produced social media clips.

One comment read: ‘Isn’t that the big-ego idiot who messed up twice in the final and ruined it for his team and the fans?! Seriously?! That’s ridiculous. Seems like he didn’t learn his lesson.’

Anther wrote: ‘I’m a Liverpool fan and this is embarrassing!! My mates are who support other clubs are sending me this video telling me this is a joke and I have to agree with them!! It’s beyond cringe!!’

Another comment said: ‘This man just ruined a Champions League final and is out here making music videos.’

It came after two catastrophic errors of judgement cost Liverpool during their 3-1 defeat to Real Madrid in the Champions League final in Kiev back in May.

Karius saw an attempted throw-out intercepted by Karim Benzema to open the scoring for the Spanish side before he spilled a long-range Gareth Bale shot for Real’s third.

It was later claimed following medical tests in Boston that Karius was suffering from concussion after being elbowed by Real defender Sergio Ramos shortly before the first mistake.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp has kept faith with Karius and he reported for pre-season duties along with the other members of the Liverpool squad not at the World Cup on Monday.

Karius is likely to play a part in Liverpool’s upcoming friendly matches against Chester, Tranmere Rovers, Bury and Blackburn Rovers before they head to the United States on their pre-season tour.
