Terry McDermott’s three European Cup medals sell for £32,500 at auction as Liverpool legend helps children get onto the property ladder

Liverpool legend Terry McDermott’s three European Cup winners’ medals sold for £32,500 at auction on Tuesday.

At Sotheby’s New Bond Street Salesroom in London, 41 items were sold to raise £99,640 which McDermott intends to use to help his children get on to the property ladder.

The most expensive sales were the European medals, topped by the £12,000 memento of Liverpool’s maiden triumph in 1977.

The 1978 medal sold for £9,500, while the prize won in the 1981 final against Real Madrid raked in £11,000.

Meanwhile, Liverpool and Roma have been charged by UEFA for crowd disturbances outside Anfield before their Champions League semi-final first leg last month.

Liverpool also face charges of setting off fireworks and throwing objects during the 5-2 victory in a case to be heard next Thursday.
