Liverpool players past and present have arrived en masse ahead of the club’s end-of-season awards ceremony.

Anfield played host to the annual event as accolades were handed out for various achievements throughout the 2017/18 campaign.

The lavish red carpet was soon in action as the first team arrived, suited and booted in official club jackets and ties.

The Reds first team squad were lead into the ceremony by beaming manager Jurgen Klopp, who posed for the cameras for once without his trademark match-day training attire on.

Captain Jordan Henderson and vice-captain James Milner weren’t far behind, while the looming stature of defender Virgil van Dijk towered over the procession of players.

Klopp opened the speaking at the ceremony as the players were introduced as the ‘2018 Champions League finalists.’

‘Football-wise, we’ve had fantastic moments,’ said the German.

‘A few games that were not that good, but I cannot remember that many… We were a little bit unlucky with some injuries in absolutely the wrong moments.’

The awards began with the presenting of Young Player of the Season, with the highly rated Trent Alexander-Arnold storming to victory with a heavy majority of votes.

It didn’t take long for Mohamed Salah to get himself on stage, scooping Players’ Player of the Season, much to the appreciation of his onlooking team-mates as Henderson presented the award.

Moments later the mercurial forward was back in the limelight after scooping the biggest award of the evening – Liverpool Football Club Player of the Season 2017/18.

Earlier, star man Salah had arrived with close friend and team-mate Dejan Lovren, ahead of a busy night.

Salah and Lovren arrived via car, with the Croatian defender posting a humorous video of the pair enroute.

Lovren poked fun at the fact he was basically Salah’s personal chauffeur, while insisting his team-mate puts on his seat belt in order to remain safe and injury free.

Salah is up for Footballer of the Year award, following a dazzling return to Premier League action.

After already scooping the PFA Player of the Year, Salah is set to further add to his ever growing personal trophy collection.

The season finale is a crucial one for Klopp’s side, who need only a point to secure a top four finish and Champions League football for next season.

Huddersfield made the task a little easier for the Reds by holding rivals Chelsea to a 1-1 draw at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday evening.

Liverpool also have the opportunity for automatic Champions League qualification should they win the trophy outright when they face Spanish giants Real Madrid at the end of the month.

The two sides will go head to head on May 26 in Kiev, as Liverpool bid to win the European cup for the sixth time in the club’s illustrious history.
